"Brand New Day" stars Meredith Baxter as Maureen Keenan, a happily married mother of 2 who's whole life changes on Father's Day 2004. That day, her husband, Kevin (Dan Lauria) took their 2 daughters Pam (Danielle Panabaker), 17 and Kate (Kay Panabaker), 14 to the beach. When they go into the water, he goes to get food at the "The Shack" and has a heart attack and dies. Maureen picks the kids up and they spend a good few weeks mourning Kevin. Maureen's best friend and business associate Selina Alcott (Omarosa Manigault-Stallworth) moves into the guest room and her other co-workers, Devon Robards (Michael Boatman) and Vance McKinney (Anderson Cooper) make regular visits to their West Islip home. Eventually the family decides to go back to the beach and that's where all the fun starts to happen. Maureen and Selina decide to take a leave of absence from their jobs for the Summer to buy and operate "The Shack", the same place Kevin died on Father's Day. This irks Pam and Kate a little bit at 1st but they grow to like spending time on the beach, playing volleyball, swimming and most importantly, meeting guys. "Brand New Day" is part "Summerland" and part real life, as it is loosely based on real events. Dan Lauria plays Kevin, Maureen's late husband who visits her in their bedroom before she goes to sleep to check up on her and the kids, as sort of a guardian angel. "Brand New Day" is a unique single-camera comedy series like no other!
