I used to go to a dentist that gave awesome toys--I'd get these wooden planes that you could fly. He was a pretty cool dentist. He acted like he didn't care how nice your teeth were. He had the worst teeth ever too. No joke.

I can't hate my dentist. He's my dad's friend, and his daughter is one of my best friends.

I hate my dentist. Everytime something is wrong with your teeth, he makes it seem like you're gonna die tomorrow. I almost knocked him out, once. You know on Finding Nemo the dentist turns around right into the light? I moved the light once because it was in my eyes, and he turned around into it. Whoops.

Well then they're full of ****. From now on I'm gonna be bad until they bribe me with toys.

I've had the same dentist for 18 years. He's my age, and is the coolest guy going. When I go for a cleaning every six months, we talk up a storm. We really get along well.

I've got to get my teeth cleaned in September. :(

Oh well... when I had braces, I was going to the ortho every month. That REALLY sucked.

I just went to the dentist this afternoon and they found a cavity in one of my teeth. They say it's probably because I have braces.
So I have to go get it filled.
How does it feel? Does it hurt? How long will it hurt and feel weird?

My Mom isn't mad, but my Dad is a little disappointed (well, he doesn't know yet, but when my sister got a cavity, he was kinda disappointed).

I had a filling a few months ago. They will deaden it(or they did with me). It doesn't really hurt. The novacane should wear off in an hour or two(they only do it to where the cavity is, not the whole mouth).

Will your mouth feel numb, though? My sister said hers did.

Well, outside of having to brush 4 times a day and do surgery to get food out that is stuck, going to the orthodontist every month to get them tightened and getting them cleaned, they aren't too bad.

The day you get them put on will be AWFUL. I felt like crap the rest of the day and the next, and you can hardly eat.

Well, I ate popcorn 3 or 4 times while I had braces. ;)

It's OK, you just have to make sure the kernels don't get stuck in your teeth.

Yeah I used to eat everything I wasn't supposed to... gum, popcorn, caramel, toffee, all that yummy stuff.. until one day I broke a bracket on licorice. But that still didn't stop me. I love food.

Cavities...no problem. Getting braces...evil. EVIL!!!!! They stretch your mouth until it rips apart and then they stick both hands and even their feet I think into your mouth. You can't swallow for like an hour. Have fun!

I remember, it was such a pain to swallow!
Braces suck at first...and you get them tightened every now and then, and then they really hurt badly! You even have to go to school with your teeth killing you :(

Well, until you get your braces off. That's what they tell you.

Also, no gum or hard candy.

I used to break that rule some though. As long as you don't go to the orthodontist with it stuck in your teeth, he/she will never know. ;)

Just while you have the braces on... but don't worry, go ahead and eat it. I didn't listen to the orthodontist and my teeth came out perfectly.

Yep, and your mouth will also feel like it's swelling up (even tho your mouth isn't ACTUALLY swelling up..it's just ultra-sensitive). It's a really freaky feeling.

Ya also can't have gum. :( That would just kill me...I ADORE gum. I chew gum all the time.

I've never had braces, but I hear you're only supposed to have soft food for the first few days you have them. After that, it's (pretty much) smooth sailing from there.

Yeah, my dentist gave me a standard lecture today about flossing my teeth more often. He tells me that almost every year I go for an appointment. Although, throughout my life, so far I've only had one cavity. I'm terrible when it comes to flossing. I went to the dentist today and had a fairly good appointment. No new cavities. Yay! :)
I will have to make an appointment for sometime in October or around then to get my wisdom teeth out. I'm so nervous. I've never had an operation in my life!

Oh, dentists... I am *very* familiar with them.
(Numerous cavities from childhood until about age 30, 10 or 12 crowns [I forgot the exact number], one root canal, and a cleaning every 3 months.)

I don't much care for dentists. The fact that my dentist is so moody doesn't help much. Everytime I see him he is in a bad mood.
