It's an unusual thing but a few that have changed the opening in midyear were:

I Dream of Jeannie- in year 1 they had Jose Ferrer recounting the story of how Jeannie was rescued by Tony, but in midseason it was replaced by the cartoon which basically told the same story

Roseanne- In year 5 when Lecy Goransen left they refilmed the scene with the family sitting around the table. They wore the same clothes I believe

Jeffersons- in fall 1983 when Paul Benedict returned they inserted mostly new visuals into the opening many from year 9 episodes

Benson- in 1984 when Benson became Lt Governor and Pete and Denise left the visuals were completely overhauled

Dennis The Menace: In the middle of the 1961-1962 season,Joseph Kearns who played Mr. Wilson passed away, and Gale Gordon replaced Joseph as Mr. Wilson's brother John and the title credits reflected that.

"Wings" - In the middle of season 3, it went from the long opening theme song to the shortened quick bit. Also when it changed, the actors names were in the first scene of the show as opposed to the theme song.

I believe that in the sixth (1980-81) season of Laverne and Shirley, the first episode had the Milwaukee opening and the rest were California.

I also believe that the eighth and last (1982-83) season of Laverne and Shirley switched the opening picture from Laverne and Shirley exiting their stucco apartment to a bunch of little girls yelling the "1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8, Schlemiel (sp?), etc." after two episodes. Of course, this is after Cindy Williams left.

Friends changed opening credits midway (usually Jan) of every season but the first and last years

Facts Of Life changed the opening credits in season 4 and (I think) season 7, mostly due to Lisa Whelchel's everychanging hairstyles

"Alice" changed in midseason when Polly Holliday left, and again in midseason a year later when Diane Ladd left.

"One Day at a Time" changed in midseason several times as new regulars were added (Nanette Fabray) or departed (MacKenzie Phillips).

"Petticoat Junction" had to change twice in midseason, once when Bea Benaderet passed away, and again a few episodes later when June Lockhart came in. They also had to change the theme song both times. The "interim" version of the opening was kind of bizarre, with a miniature model of the hotel used, then a quick cut to Uncle Joe sitting on the porch (editing out Benaderet).

Alice- that makes sense since Belle and Jolene both came on midyear. I have been trying to figure out ODAAT's main titles. That one changed from the film of them moving when Richard Masur left in late 1976 to the cast shots from past episodes. Did it change midway through year 7 to accomaodate the return of MacKenzie Phllips and Michael Lembeck? And was Howard Hesseman ever billed in the opening in year 9? I saw the last episode and Nanette Fabray was credited even though she wasn't in the episode (actually almost none of them were in that one).

The titles on film remained intact for the entire first season. The titles were redone on tape for season 2, when Masur was dropped as a regular cast member. Masur came back for some episodes in the second season to tie up his story, but he was listed as a guest star in the closing crawl. So there was no need for a midseason change.

The titles were changed in midseason in 1982 when Phillips and Lembeck returned (they also changed in midseason when they left two years earlier). Phillips was always billed in the opening whenever she was on, never as a guest star.

Not only was Hesseman billed in the season 9 opening, he got second billing, bumping Pat Harrington to third place. But they threw a "starring" label on Harrington's title card that year (starring Pat Harrington as Schneider), probably to placate him. It wasn't an "Also Starring" or a "Co-Starring", just "Starring" -- kind of strange for someone who's billed third.

I think I remember seeing the main titles of the first one in year 9 (or one of the first ones) when Ann and Sam come back from their honeymoon (it's the one when Boyd Gaines and Ann were talking about Alex moving away at the door) and I don't remember Hesseman being billed in the start though he's in the episode. It may have been either my bad memory or a different opening that was used in syndication. I saw the last episode (the one where Schneider goes to the fun house) and Hesseman isn't credited in the opening of that one either- at least not on the tape that I saw. That last one credited Bonnie Franklin, Pat Harrington, Boyd Gaines, Michael Lembeck, Nanette Fabray and Valerie Bertinelli. Bertinelli appeared briefly in the first scene, otherwise it was a spinoff pilot for Pat Harrington.

One thing I liked about this show's opening was the painted portraits that would morph into identical videotaped shots of the actors. They seemed to redo these every year from about 1978 through 1982 if I remember right.
