I would say it's long overdue. I think I've written here before that I saw the very first episode of TC when it originally aired. I was flipping through the channels (on a black & white TV set, btw), and saw the scene in which Jack wakes up in a bathtub. It looked interesting so I watched the rest of the episode and was hooked!

As I have done with Erin Moran, I will mention the Sitcoms Online message board and even print a few threads to give to her. I'd like to see her reaction to a username of "Janet Tripper!"

That is cool!! I don't think I could imagine the show in B&W!! (lOl) I think Joyce does have a computer, execpt that when she recieved my letter in Canada she didn't have a computer w/her then!!! Yes, there are several SO members who live in the L.A. area.
So I would expect them to stop in at this show.

These shows are a great idea. Can be somewhat expensive if you want to get a lot of autographs, but still well worth it. I mean, what's the chance of meeting dozens of celebrities on the street? At this show, they are in one convenient room! And you can even take of photo of them.

According to my friend (Todd F., he doesn't come to SO), most celebs charge $15-20. The bigger names charge $25+. This Todd F. friend has been collecting autographs since about 1987, so he knows the HCS business pretty well. :)

As Miss Vicki said, autographs cost $15-20; some B&W cost $10.00. Some very good, portrait-style photos cost $25.00

I believe the celebs are allowed to keep the money. This might be one reason why so many request to attend the show... I asked the show creator and organizer and he said the celebs ask to appear, they are not asked to show up. A very popular celeb (like Don Knotts) can easily collect $2-3,000 over the weekend.

But pehaps the best thing about this show is you are not rushed when talking to the celebs. Even when there is a line, I've seen people talk to celebs for several minutes. And if you go later in the day, like 1:00 or 2:00 PM, you have an even better chance to chat with celebs. I did that with actor Johnny Crawford (Mark McCain of "The Rifleman")... his table was almost empty so I was able to talk to him for at least 10 minutes. I also stayed quite a while at Dawn Wells' table. There was a lull in the crowd at times, and I took advantage of that and talked to her. I wouldn't mind seeing her again! ;-)

I'll probably do that with Joyce, get her autograph (and pic) sometime in the morning, then stop by again in the afternoon for another opportunity to talk to her. Yeah, she should like the SO threads. I gave Cindy Williams some threads a few years ago. She started reading a "Happy Birthday" thread right away, page after page! I was surprised... I thought she would just put it aside and read it later.

So, how far away are you from Burbank? If you are less than about 50 or 60 miles away, it would be worth going.

Yeah I definitely agree! I liked that poll thingy Grade did , with the singing voices! I thought that was so creative! Like if we were to meet an actual TC star ,who would sing to us? I picked John :lol: then Norman Fell for second :lol:

:lol: I'm gonna live till I die! :lol: I think Joyce was a good singer , I remember her and Richard Kline did a duet a while back. He's a good singer too. I think Suzanne is a pro too!

I missed my chance to meet John Ritter. :mad: He came to the Mall of America last year with Martin Spanjers and Amy Davidson for a fundraiser and it was at the end of June in 2003...I had a trip planned for then, but something else came up and I couldn't go on the trip. :mad:

Richard Kline was at the last HCS they had in June -- I was going to send Todd $ to get Richard's autograph for me, but it got there too late. :mad: Ohhhh well. I can send him the $ if he's going to the HCS in October. :D

Oh, you're in Kansas. That is kind of far from California. This Hollywood Collectors Show is also in San Francisco and Chicago. (Check the website.) I've noticed that some celebs are at the other locations after they have been to the Hollywood/Burbank show. Maybe Joyce will go to the Chicago one. Also, even though about 90% of the celebs who say they will attend actually do, there have been a few who don't show up. If I were to fly to a show, I would make absolutely sure that the celebs I want to see will be there!

You do have to feel somewhat sorry for the celebs who were on '50s and '60s sitcoms. They usually got paid for only the first 6 or 7 reruns and that's it. So celebs like Don Adams, Dawn Wells/Bob Denver/Russell Johnson/Tina Louise, Pat Priest/Butch Patrick/Al Lewis, and other cast members from shows like "Bewitched," "Green Acres," etc. don't get anything when their shows are aired.

As for Joyce choosing to be at the autograph show, maybe Richard Kline (who was at the last one) suggested she go to the next one. Maybe her manager urged her to. Or, maybe it is her own idea? What's important is... she is going!

good point fleet. thanks for your input...that will help in my decision. AND...i will check the website, yet I don't feel that there is much difference from here to burbank than there is from here to chicago. I mean there is difference, in miles, but i still have to hop on a plane for both locations. If you know what i mean....and i would much rather visit California than Chicago. ;)

anyway......i didn't realize that about the older actors and actresses not getting paid but only for the first 5 or 6 reruns.

Hi everybody,

I (finally, after 27 years) met Joyce today!!! :woohoo:

Luckily there was only a short line, like 4 or 5 people. I got in line, picked out a few photos for her to sign, and had a photo taken of myself and her (an assistant took the pic).

When I finished, I noticed that the line grew a little. So, I walked around and got in line again later on. This time, I bought a "Three's Company" script (episode: "Janet's High School Sweetheart") which she signed and another photo.
I then gave her some things I brought with me... copies of original TV ratings from 1978 and 1979 which I used to cut out of the newspaper almost every week. I also gave her a few surveys I took to work with me, a pic of her off the TV, and a few other things.

As I promised, I gave her copies of several threads from this message board:
- "Joyce's big heart"
- "Janet"
- "Jack & Janet"
- "Sexy Joyce DeWitt pic"

She seemed really pleased to receive all of these things. In fact, she got up and kissed me on the cheek! (I hope "Unwanted Angel" is reading this.) :D

Two more things...

...Joyce told me that she does not have a computer, which surprised me.

... For SO member "Janet Tripper," I did show Joyce your username! She laughed when she saw it.

I noticed that with every person Joyce posed with, she put her arm around him/her. She is very nice and energetic.

I will post the pics on a new thread, probably tomorrow.

When I finished, I noticed that the line grew a little. So, I walked around and got in line again later on. This time, I bought a "Three's Company" script (episode: "Janet's High School Sweetheart") which she signed and another photo.
I then gave her some things I brought with me... copies of original TV ratings from 1978 and 1979 which I used to cut out of the newspaper almost every week. I also gave her a few surveys I took to work with me, a pic of her off the TV, and a few other things.

As I promised, I gave her copies of several threads from this message board:
- "Joyce's big heart"
- "Janet"
- "Jack & Janet"
- "Sexy Joyce DeWitt pic"

She seemed really pleased to receive all of these things. In fact, she got up and kissed me on the cheek! (I hope "Unwanted Angel" is reading this.) :D

Two more things...

...Joyce told me that she does not have a computer, which surprised me.

... For SO member "Janet Tripper," I did show Joyce your username! She laughed when she saw it.

I noticed that with every person Joyce posed with, she put her arm around him/her. She is very nice and energetic.

I will post the pics on a new thread, probably tomorrow.
I also got autographs from "Ralph and Potsie" (Donny Most and Anson Williams).

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!! I am sooo jealous! I live only three hours away from where she was at, but sadly I can't drive and I had no body to give me a ride. I REALLY wanted to meet her!!!! You are so lucky, but I am glad that you met her because you definetly deserved it!!! I mean, you have waited for 27 years, I think it was about time!!! LOL. At least I got an autograph from her yesterday in the mail. I wrote to her and she sent me one. I very glad and grateful for that. Congrats again!!!! :D

I plan to print a few more, because Joyce is supposed to be at the show tomorrow (she is not listed as "Sunday only," or "Saturday only" as some celebs are). I sure hope she will be there again. After 27 years, meeting her only once is not enough. ;)

Actually, the main reason I gave her the "Sexy Joyce DeWitt Pic" thread is because I thought she would be amused how myself and "Unwanted Angel" (Dorothy) were fighting over her!

Yeah, I'm glad I was able to tell her about Sitcoms Online. Even if she doesn't have a computer like she claimed, she can always use a friend's or at a library.

Yeah, I thought of that. I started that thread ("Sexy Joyce DeWitt Pic") on page 2, so that drawing or whatever it was was not on the printed page. I printed all of them within the last week. I think around last Wednesday.

Yes, I will take more pics! She should be wearing something different tomorrow. Today, she wore a red top and black pants.
