View Full Version : "Who's The Boss?"....The New "Wings"?
pilotguy 06-28-2004, 07:24 AM I may be wrong, but it just seems like NICK is giving "Who's The Boss?" the same shoddy treatment that it's been giving "Wings".....
"Boss" is not seen every night, and when it IS seen, it's only for a half-hour block at 10 PM (not that great a timeslot for a "new" series....and especially one that's family-oriented) and another half-hour at 3 AM....It's certainly not getting the "royal red carpet" treatment that some of NICK's OTHER sitcoms have been getting.
NICK is so strange....There are some series that NICK will fall all over, running multiple episodes and promoting the heck out of, while there are other series that are quite good....but for some reason they don't "fall into favor" with NICK and get treated and scheduled very shabbily.....and it looks like "Who's The Boss?" has joined "Wings" in the "shabby" category!
TVJunkie101 06-28-2004, 08:35 AM I agree.
I love Wings to death, but IMHO, TBS should have picked it up before it went to N@N. The timing, imo, was wrong. I think there was a chance say maybe in a couple of years it going to N@N and possibly doing well. It's too new. Fresh Prince might succeed even though it is new, same with Full House.
Wings is better off on TBS, and I think it would fit really well on there.
Anyway, I also love Who's the Boss? and knew from the minute I heard it was going there that it wouldn't do well. Don't know why, just did. That's why I bought WTB Season 1 on DVD and will tape 2-8 on DVD (I have a DVD recorder). I intend to start re-taping Wings on DVD when it starts over at #1 soon.
Coach ended up the same way. Coach wasn't even given a decent timeslot premiere. It was at like 1am, right? And then after fan complaints it was moved to 11pm and bombed.
It ticks me off, but if shows aren't getting ratings, why air them in primo slots? I get that, but it's still annoying, LOL.
IMO, Wings and WTB are two very underrated sitcoms who had long "lives" and were very popular. Why they do so terribly now is surprising, for the most part. Same for Family Ties. I Love that show too, but IMO, I think it's maybe too dated... Which is why Full House and Cosby Show do so well... At least I like Roseanne but I watch it on Oxygen ;) and sometimes N@N. I'm actually really surprised Roseanne did so well. Not sure why, but I was. I know it's still popular, but for N@N, that surprised me.

From what Pavanbadal said N@N is limited on how much they can air WTB. They are leasing WTB from the Program Exchange, they don't own the rights to WTB, so TPE limits how many times a night the show can be aired, and I guess they can air it only a certain amount of times a week as well.
I agree though WTB probably will get pushed back to a later timeslot when Murphy Brown and Fresh Prince join N@N

Actually when Coach started on NICK back in Sept 2002, they aired it at 11 - 12, and started with a marathon aswell. But it was dropped becasue the ratings were so low,..thank god COACH comes to USA Network this fall :D
Heres hoping they will play seasons 8 and 9..which nick didnt.
HelenandJoe213 07-29-2004, 11:49 PM Wait are they adding more shows? Noooo.... It could mess with Wings timeslot. I'm a Wings newcomer, and have been taping episodes just recently. I don't want it to mess with my Wings time slot. :(. I hate N@N, yet love them because it's the only way to watch Wings.
spunkygirl 07-30-2004, 12:07 AM Yep N@N is adding The Fresh Prince in Sept(which will be way overplayed) and Murphy Brown in January I think.
Fresh Prince will be on early, if N@N doesn't drop Wings when they pick up MB, then it shouldn't affect it's timeslot

Really, they're showing sitcoms again? I thought they had converted to the crime drama network.
Lil Micelli 07-30-2004, 11:55 PM FP already plays on UPN and TBS and stuff like that. Why would N@N want to pick it up? They have only had Wings and WTB for like, one year... not even... why can't they give the shows a chance? They are saying that those shows get low ratings... but it's because they put them on maybe three times a week at midnight. Tell me... who is going to watch them at midnight on a school night??
webteen 07-31-2004, 04:23 AM If nick at nite drops wings it might be ok...
For one.. Other networks will want wings, I'm sure of. I know FX wants wings. ABC family is allowed to get wings this fall but they probably won't because ABC will be having a new show called "Eyes" staring tim daly as the main character Harlan Judd or something.. And if ABC family played wings it would draw attention away from "Eyes"..
TBS won't take in wings for some reason.. Maybe paramount won't let them.
The WB won't take in wings because it has roseanne and that would be to similar to the nick at nite shows.
USA Network took wings off because of their primetime shows. So wings could be back on there in the spring..
If wings does go off television, I hope they atleast bring it to DVD..
If wings is doing well on nick at nite, which im not sure it is, it could be moved to tvland.
Well here's hoping more networks take into place.
And I hope ppl will watch "Eyes" when it comes out this Fall- Midseason, to ABC..

When it comes to N@N it won't be shown on those networks, N@N has the exclusive rights to air it only.
I agree though, they've never given Wings a chance, it hadn't even been on N@N a month before they shoved it to timeslot Siberia

Personally I don't think Wings would fit on ABC Family, that's more of a teen network to me.
I think Wings would fit better on Lifetime, WE, or Oxygen. Possibly FX
Now I think Who's the Boss? If N@N ever drops it would fit perfectly on Lifetime they could have it back to back with the Nanny :D
Lil Micelli 07-31-2004, 02:50 PM WTB? would be great for Lifetime... but they'd treat it just like Caroline in the City. They'd keep it around at 7 in the morning for a few months and then notice no one is watching it... which is where I ask again... who wants to watch tv that early in the morning?? And kids that watch it are on their way to school!
Wings would also be good for Lifetime, although I think it would be better on We.
webteen 08-02-2004, 05:21 AM The WB was originally planning on taking in Wings, but they got stuck with roseanne. They took off the Fresh Prince of Bell Air from the WB and its going to N@N. WB got home improvement.
Trust me, if N@N drops Wings, they wont have the rights anymore because nbc is strict about these things and they want paid. So if no network takes it, they'll probably send out the DVD releases to get some money from it.
