...if I should quit my supermarket job now or hang in for awhile longer. I start my classroom assistant job this Monday. It's just part-time and for the summer, but it's very likely I will be hired as a full-time employee for the regular school year. (There's another job I applied for that sounds very promising, but I won't know about either one for sure until at least August.) I really could use the extra money and I get along well with my current boss and quite a few of my co-workers. They've all told me they would miss me very terribly if I quit now. Plus, I'll have to spend less time at home with my miserable <bleep> grandmother. (I've really tried so hard not to let her get to me, but she's such a miserable, difficult, bitter, hateful person.) On the other hand, I've been at the store for five years now, and I'm so fed up with some people, both customers and certain co-workers.

Advice, anyone?

I suggest you still keep your supermarket job until you know for sure that you will get the job at the elementary school. I made the mistake of quitting last year and I thought that I could find a job easily. I was wrong.

I think you're right. But my mom says I should still work there even if I do get the full-time posistion in September. That, I definitely don't feel like doing.

I would keep your job at the supermarket at least for now. See how the teaching gig works out first. If they bring you on full time when the school year begins then you'll be in a better position to quite the supermarket. Good luck with the classroom assistant job.:) What grade will it be for?

I think you should keep your job at the supermarket until you know for sure that you will still have the other job in September. It will be something to fall back on in case the other one doesn't work out.

Definitely keep your current job for now.

That's great. When I was a student teacher, it was for special ed. junior high students.

I agree. If you don't come home angry or sad everyday after work, then stick with it. Maybe cut back on your hours if you want.
