Has anyone ever done this? What did you say to your boss and how did it go?

Ive never quit before, Ive had the same job now. But, when I do quit itll be because I found another job so Ill just say the pay is better and its a better job. Which it will be, since like, being a cashier is like, the easiest job in the world.

Is that the reason why youre leaving? If not, tell them the truth or make up something. But try and leave on good terms if ya can, you never know if you have to go back!

I quit my job at a law office in January. I just said that I was so busy with school and that it was a great opportunity to work there (such a lie!). It went fine, though.

I told him to "Choke and die."

No, acutually I told him I was moving to Texas. Can't do much about that!

I see I'm not the only one having problems with editing thread titles. I thought it was a 60 minute limit but apparently it was fixed or something. It's my opinion, but I think if we can edit posts, we should also edit thread titles. Maybe I should mention this to TJ again.

I quit my last job a year ago. I just went to the boss and said to her that I feel like I need to move on and find a job that is closer to home. I regret quitting because I have still not found a job since then.

Well, really it's because I hate my bosses, they don't trust me, and it's putting me under so much emotional pain that I'm making myself sick.

Yeah, that really sucks. Bosses shouldnt make you feel that way. Do other co-workers feel that way too? If so, you guys can get together and write a letter to them. If not, and theyre mistreating you verbally and what not, speak to the BIG BOSS of the whole place or whatever.

Umm.. for an excuse you could say: I found a better (paying) job, a job thatll help me further my career, or that you just feel ready to move on.

Actually, I'm the only employee left. I've seen 2 guys quit ahead of me (the last one is really making me sad) and they were both treated the same way. And the thing with my bosses is once you give them your 2 weeks, they treat you like ****. They did it to both Al and Earl.

And it's a small auto repair shop...no higher ups. :o

I may tell them I'm going back to school. Whether I actually do or not is not their problem.

Believe me, I'd love too. These people are only a few steps above Satan, Hitler, Osama, and Hussein in my opinion.

I quit a job a few years ago. Unfortunatly, this is a family website, so let's just say the obscenities were flying fast and furious.

I just quit my job a week ago, my boss is a real jerk(but substitute a different word). I have talked to others that work there since I left, and they're ready to walk out cause he's a tyrant.

I basically walked out on him, I wasn't comfortable doing that, but he's had so many people walk out on him the last few months, I don't think it even fazed him :rolleyes:

Just tell them that you got a better offer from someone else. Try to get a job at a dealership service advisor/ writer, it's good experience working for a dealer, you learn so much more. From some of your posts, you seem pretty knowledgeable about cars.

Really my boss didn't deserve two weeks notice, my coworkers did, that I regret, but he's been overworking his employees for months, and is a tyrant. No one can stand him, he's got people wanting to walk out him now. Alot of them would if they didn't need the money so badly :(

We used to have a saying in school about problems. If there was no one to blame for something, someone would say, "BLAME CANADA!" Today, it's probably, "BLAME BUSH!"

Thanks! If you get into a big dealership they will send you to school and the best part is it's free! Also they will pay your wage for the days you're there. Before I opened my own shop I worked for a GM dealership and they sent me to numerous gm training classes, you learn alot.

he's very two faced my ex boss, he'd piSs you off, then try to charm you out of being mad at him. He's very unsympathetic when someone is sick, you see he hardly ever got sick, so he just didn't care when any of us got sick.

I quit my job a little over a month ago and now I have a much better one. I did the wrong thing and walked out. I just didn't come back after my lunch break. If any of you had to work with the person I worked with, you probably wouldn't have worked as long as I did. I wanted to say "Take this job and shove it up your ass!!!!!" The person I worked with treated me like crap all day and even in front of my mother, mom works at the same place, and I couldn't take anymore so I left. The manager REALLY needs to be fired!!!!!! Here's just a few of the things she does--talks on the phone all day, doesn't work but takes credit for it, argues w/ other employees, trys to tell everyone else how to do his/her job when she doesn't even do her own, trys to get paid for overtime w/out first getting approval, CUSSES THE BOSSES TO THIER FACES!?!!!! WTF, Why doesn't she just get fired for that?!? Rude to customers, been caught more then once having sex in the coolers on company time, doesn't ever clean, been caught evesdropping, either orders too much or not enough of an item, is very mean to whatever poor soul who works with her, thows produce and knives when she's mad :rolleyes:, walks around the store all day instead of staying in her department, causes trouble all of the time, takes off and leaves the other worker to unload many pallets of produce on truck day, leaves rotten produce out in the case, and so on, and on. That's just some of the stuff she does at work, not including her personal life :eek: I don't know how I worked with her as long as I did! She's ran off 7 workers in just three years...Now, C'mon, the produce department shouldn't be THAT hard! It's because of her! I've never met sombody like her in all my life. The bosses don't even like her, so somebody PLEASE tell me why they won't fire her!!!!! I'm sorry I blabbed about t for so long, but I don't understand why they let good workers leave, but keep somebody like her. :confused:

She's probably kept to keep the bosses happy, especially behind their desks :D. She's, what you would call, "The Little Office Whore."

I had a job at Wix Filters for 2 days and I had to quit because it was a very physical job and I found out I cant have that right now.

Right, because Canada and Bush are to blame for the downfall of this country.

I think it depends. If your bosses are decent, I say be civil and give them some notice so they can replace you.

If they're jerks, I say just tell them you're quitting and walk out :lol:

I'm 16 and I work at Shoney's as a hostess. My manager has me scheduled for 46 hours this week, although I'm part-time. Usually I work about 35 hours. I had asked for the week of the 4th off because my family is going to the beach and he told me I was the 3rd person in line. I told him that if I didnt get that week off I would quit, and then he told me we'd work something out.

I would tell my immediate supervisor first. It's a good idea to give a two week's notice when quitting any job, even if you hate your boss and/or the company. Your next employer may check your references, so it's never good to burn your bridges.

You'll most likely have an exit interview with HR. Stay upbeat and positive about the company. You don't have to tell them where you're going to work....simply that you're exploring other opportunities. I know your boss is a headcase, but don't knock him. Tell your boss and HR that you enjoyed your experience with them.

Then stock up on office supplies before you hit the road. :)
