View Full Version : My Cat's Having Surgery
Janice 06-24-2004, 07:04 PM My cat Foxy is 15 year's old. He's a beautiful white Persian with shades of silver. He looks exactly like the cat on the Fancy Feast commercial. He's young looking and active.
He's a gentle, loving and sweet little guy. Last winter, he developed a tiny lump on his head, over his left eye. I took him to the vet and was told it was probably a wart, but to keep an eye on it.
Over the past few months, it's grown into this ugly brown thing....similar but bigger than the size of an eraser on a pencil. It juts out his head. Then it started bleeding here and there. Sorry to sound gross about this.
We took him to the vet today, and they kept him overnight for surgery in the morning. They'll remove it and biopsy it for cancer. He has to go under anesthesia. Animals over the age of 10 going under are at a high risk, but this monstrosity growing on his head has to be removed and biopsied.
Can you guys say a prayer or keep a hopeful thought for my little buddy Foxy. I'm very nervous about this whole ordeal. I can't believe he's not home with us now. He's probably so confused right now in strange surroundings.
Thanks, my friends.
I'm sure he'll be okay. We're pullin' for ya.
¤I Love Clay Aiken¤ 06-24-2004, 07:36 PM Aww Janice :bighug: Ill be praying for Foxy! I hope the surgery goes through well! Im sure it will! Let us now how it goes :)
Mr. Television 06-24-2004, 07:53 PM I'm sorry Janice. I'll be praying for Foxy. I have a dog that's about to turn 10 and it would break my heart if anything happened to her. I hope everything turns out alright.
PZelda 06-24-2004, 07:58 PM Oh no! I'll be pullin' for ya! Here's to hoping the surgery goes well. :)

-*Forever*- 06-24-2004, 08:03 PM Awww Janice!!! :bighug: That's so sad. I'm sure he'll be okay. He seems like a strong cat.
But I'll pray for him.
Pitooey 06-24-2004, 08:06 PM :bighug: To you Janice. I know the feeling. I'll pray for your Foxy..... Good Luck! - From an animal lover myself........
Janice 06-24-2004, 08:12 PM Thanks guys. I have to hope for two things. First, that the surgery goes well (and it will). Second, that the biopsy reveals that the lump is benign.
He's going to have to wear one of those special neck collars WHEN he comes home. I'm sure he'll love that, lol.
Not that it matters, but this surgery is costing $800, not counting post-op lab/blood work and exams, but I wouldn't care if it cost 8 thousand. He counts on us to protect him.
It was so hard leaving him behind today. I gave him a kiss on his nose, and told him that his mommy loves him.
Cactus Jack 06-24-2004, 08:26 PM Hope your cat will be ok :D
MaydayMalonesGirl 06-24-2004, 08:53 PM I hope your cat's surgery goes well.
In December my cat had to go in for emergency surgery. I know how stressful it can be waiting to hear how things went :/ Hopefully he'll pull through and make it out ok. :)
MonarC 06-24-2004, 09:07 PM I hope your cat will be ok.

dandelion wine 06-24-2004, 10:05 PM Janice, your Foxy will certainly be kept in my prayers. It's always stressful having to go through something like this, but I know he's going to be just fine. :)
:bighug:
TheHappyBurgerMeister 06-24-2004, 10:30 PM I'm sure your kitty will be OK Janice. 15 years old for a cat is very good! The only surgery my kitty ever had was being spayed and that was when we first adopted her. I can't imagine her having surgery now and being away from us for the night!
TheGreatPretender 06-24-2004, 11:06 PM aaaaaaaaaaw foxy will be in my prayers. and im definetly sure that ur cat will be ok. im an animal lover myself.pig: :cow: :sheep :cat: :dog:
Blair85 06-24-2004, 11:12 PM I hope Foxy is doing well, and I will pray for him. I know how that is. I have five cats and they're always getting sick and stuff. They worry me to death! :o I like animals better then people so I get really upset when something happens to them. I have a really old cat named "Flatus". He is the best cat! He's probably about 17. Well, tell us when you find out how Foxy is doing. If you need anyone to talk to if you get worried about him, you're welcomed to pm me.

He looks exactly like this now.
Brian Damage 06-24-2004, 11:39 PM Janice, I hope and pray that your cat ends up fine. I'm sure he'll be fine. :)
Brian 06-24-2004, 11:44 PM I really hope that your cat turns out fine. I know I would be really depressed if one of my cats died. I have a cat that's getting up there in years and I don't know what I'd do if she died or if she had to be put to sleep.
Janice 06-25-2004, 07:08 PM Foxy made it through his surgery with flying colors! I won't know if it's cancer or not for a week as I await results of his biopsy from pathology.
He's coming home tomorrow, and has to wear his cone neck collar for, as the vet said, "Ten days, 24/7, no exceptions". This is so he won't mess with the stitches and risk infection.
I'm happy, the hubby's happy, and Foxy will be happy when he comes home. :cat:
Thanks for all the well wishes. :biglove:
Brian 06-25-2004, 07:11 PM That's great! :woohoo:
