That would've been good. A severe thunderstorm shuts down all the power, so the Evanses have no choice but to sit in the dark, reminiscing about previous episodes. I can think of two other shows that had flashbacks:

The Jeffersons when George and Weezie were tied up.

Sanford and Son when Fred and Lamont went camping?

There are two episodes which they could have used flashbacks. The end of the two-parter after James' funeral focusing on him and the final Good Times episode.

I'm not complaining. Flashback shows are a cheap way of getting an episode made without having to do much work. They had a certain entertainment value years ago when a show didn't go into syndication until it went off the air but now they're unnecessary if you ask me. It's like tuning in to a show in reruns and then tuning in a couple weeks later and watching the same episode all over again. I could see actors reminiscing about 1 scene from a previous season that is in some way relevant to that week's plot, but not a whole episode (some shows had 2 and 3 part flashback eps) filled with clips.

Honestly, what could they have flashbacked on? It was nothing for the Evans Family to look back on and laugh because throughout the series it was one disappointment after another.

Good point indeed. Only JJ could make a flashback stupid.

"JJ, what's so funny"
"I'm laughing about the time I got shot"???
