One of the sadest cases ever shown on UM is the one of the new father that was gunned down in the parking lot of his work. They had a camera showing his car and another car coming into the lot and then the other car speeding out. They found the guy half in and half out of his car shot dead. The cops think it was mistaken identity.
Can anyone help me with his name....have there been any updates on this case. It was the one case that I so hoped they would solve....I have not seen it profiled in a long time but everytime i do it makes me cry. Just seeing him in the video holding his new born baby and his wife crying. Life can be so cruel at times.

The mans name was Matt Flores. Not for sure on the spelling of the last name though.

That is the correct spelling of his last name. It has been ten years since he was murdered, but let's not dare give up hope that his murder will one day be solved. (I certainly am not.)
In 2001, a Rhode Island research laboratory was named after him. It is called the Matthew D. Flores Research Laboratory. The link below is from 2001, but it's worth reading.

Matt's daughter has grown up so much. From what I remember from the segment, she was an infant when he was killed. She never got to know her father, so sad.

case has always been of interest to me. Although it does not have the heart wrenching aspect say of some of the child abductions it is tragic in its own way. A few things I drew from the story:
1) The police obviously have information which they are not sharing with the public at this time. As a researcher this proves eternally frustrating but I can understand it as well. I do however, wonder if the case has progressed at all?
2) The all teran vehicle that is suspected in the case, it is quite obvious to me that the driver of that vehicle did not intend to murder Matt Flores. I believe however since Flores was murdered "execution style", it was likely a contract hit although a contract hit for someone else.
3) Which leads me to believe either Matt's military past or the past of people working in that office building should be looked into more thoughly
Later.
