View Full Version : Happy Days: 20 Years Later episode guide
Season 1
1. Welcome To Milwaukee
The summer of 1985 is coming to a close and Danielle (Danni) Cunningham is on the phone to her older brother about her 19th birthday party. While she reflects back to the past fourteen years in Milwaukee, she discovers that her life has been through changes. Her uncle Chachi's band, The Skylarks, are breaking up, her older brother Richie Jr. (a.k.a R.J) is still in LA working on his new movie and Danni needs a hair cut. So many things have changed that it makes Richie sick of changes so he cancels Danni's birthday. But later, Lori Beth makes her realize that changes makes us different from rocks and Richie and Lori Beth reinstate Danni's party just in time for some news from her friends.
NOTE: The Happy Days series is re-named Happy Days: 20 Years Later from this episode on.
The Graduation photo that Richie took of Danni is shown on Danni's desk in this episode.
Edmund (Eddie) Weber and Alison (Allie) Malph mention that their parents look different to the last time we saw them. This is because Potsie is now married to Courtney from 'Potsie On His Own' becuase Loretta from 'A Potsie Is Born' died of heart failure in 1980. Also, Roger and Jenny are married, so are Fonzie and Daphne and Ralph and Leather.
Eugene (Gene) Philips mentions that he and his twin brother Elvis were named after 50s rock 'n' roll singers. She is referring to Elvis Presley and Gene Vincent.
Jane Martell mentions that Allie's father Ralph once courted her mother Bunny Martell in College and she is now a single mother to Jane.
Daniel (Danny) Fonzarelli mentions that the Stray Cats split up in 1984.
The Skylarks album cover for "The Illusion" is very similiar to Queen's album cover for "The Miracle".
Danni's birthday is August 15, which is seven months after the original air date of "All The Way" (January 15).
From this episode to the series finale, the end credits changes to pictures of the gang and their families and how their parents looked during the Happy Days run and how they look now and the opening credits show the gang with each other and their families and friends doing things together.

A mad scientist and his cohort, an army general goen AWOL, decide to destroy Milwaukee until the gang get involved but end up getting captured.
NOTE: Ralph, Potsie, Richie, Lori Beth, Leather, Courtney, Lou and Joanie do not appear in this episode.
Marion appears at the beginning of this episode asking the kids if they have seen Richie or Lori Beth and Danni says they are upstairs.

NOTE: Jane appears in this episode without a dialogue.
Prof. Jerome, Prof. Tribianni and Prof. Dinkleburg are the only staff members in this episode.
In this episode, they briefly allude to Jerry Lewis being a washed up celebrity working in a bar.
One of the extraneous toys found at the gift shop is a Charlie Chaplin glove puppet.
When Elvis tells Eddie that there's another fine mess he's gotten them into and later another nice mess he's gotten him into, he was reffering to Oliver Hardy's mantra from some L&H shorts.
4. When Pants Attack
When the gang discover her secret laboratory, Danni tells them that she has more important things to do than pick up her pants - like invent a device that'll do that chore for everyone on campus. But when the nanochip develops advanced brainial capacity, Danni's pants lead an attack on the city of Milwaukee and the gang have to kick the seats of their own pants!
NOTE:From this episode to episode 7, Eddie has a mullet and Allie wears a light green cardigan sweater and khaki pants. u copied that form Jimmy Neutron
5. Postcards From Allie
Pack your bags! Allie's going to New York to visit her dad's cousin Ben. She won't have to go alone; the others and their parents will be joining her. Later in NYC, Ben and the gang enjoy all the wonderous sights of New York, including Central Park and Broadway. With his trusty video camera documenting every move, Eddie's having a blast! But what happens when the gang get lost in Chinatown?
NOTE: This special episode introduces Metabolica, Eddie's band of college students including Elvis.
This episode gives a name for Ralph's cousin in the NYPD: Police Captain Benjiman James 'Ben' Malph.
UWM's Baseball Team is now called the "UWM Tigers" and we learn that the gang and their parents support the Green Bay Packers.
The NYC airport is named the JFK Airport. It was named after John F. Kennedy not John Belushi, Ferlin Husky and Kenny Rogers as Allie pointed out to Eddie in Welcome To Milwaukee.
6. The Newer Crew
Tired of Eddie and the gang getting all the glory from Dean Clarkson, Rob and Ashley decide to get a gang of their own together. They recruit Denim Tuscadero, Lee McKenna, Nikki Hightower and Kirsten Armstrong and together the six start solving the playground's problems and getting the glory. Of course Eddie and co now have nothing to do, so they are left just talking and eventually realise that just being friends is much better than getting all the glory they used to have. Friends being something that the gang (except for Ashley and Rob are definitely not...
NOTE: There are lots of references to other comedy shows in this episode, such as Monty Python's Flying Circus, Laverne & Shirley and M*A*S*H.
There is a sequence where the College safety partol arrest Jim Murray when he steals the head of the UWM founder. That was already attempted in The Simpsons.
In this episode, Dean Clarkson's first name is Wayne, Prof. Jeorme's is Jennifer, Prof. Dinkleburg's is Allen and Prof. Tribiani's is Salvatore.
In the scene where Rob and Kirsten are Charleston dancing, you can see Prof. Tribbiani (probably Joey's dad) in a brief shot of the audience.
7. The Really Mighty Teens
The gang have Danni's new superhero machine turn them into superheros so that Dean Clarkson can't make them clean his office after College but the Dean goes after them as the supervillain, Dr Victor Von Doom.
NOTE: This is the first time we ever see the gang fantasizing themselves as superheroes.
Danni is Brain Girl, Eddie is Captain Muscles, Allie is the Really Incredibly Fast Babe, Gene is the Changling, Jane is Bird Girl and Elvis is Captain Wisconsin.
The gang's parents along with Wanda, Lou, Becky and Marion do not appear in this episode.
The superhero parts are rumoredly narrated by Tom Kenny.
The people watching is horror are Louise, Prof. Dinkleburg, Prof. Tribianni, Prof. Jerome, Kirsty and Amy.
The reporter in this episode is called Kent Powers.
8. Danni's Comet
The gang try to help Danni find a comet to impress Elvis but ends up shooting off thanks to two former army pilots gone AWOL until Eddie and Allie save her.
NOTE: Danni is scared of heights.
Allie and Eddie have been going steady since 1978.
Elvis's middle name is Roger.
This episode gives us first proof that Jane has a thing for Gene when she becomes his lab partner.
Marion, Joanie and Chachi do not appear in this episode. Amy appears in the beginning of this episode without a dialouge.
The pilots might remind us of Mr Wink and Mr Fibb from Codename: Kids Next Door.
There are also some refernces to Codename: Kids Next Door in this episode.
9. Happy Birthday, Jane
Rob and Ashley attempt to ruin a birthday Party for Jane at Arnold's but Eddie and Elvis stand between the 'snobs' and the greatest Cake ever!
NOTE: This is the first appearance of Bunny Martell, Jane's mother.
The real names of the gang are: Eddie: Edmund, Allie: Alison, Danni: Danielle and Gene: Eugene. Jane and Elvis have their own nicknames Elvis: King and Jane: Janey.
Elvis and Eddie's fight against Ashley and Rob is apparantly like the fight in 'Joanie's Weird Boyfriend'.
Some of the students from When Pants Attack return in this episode as party guests.
Apparently, neither Rob, Ashley or the rest of the gang ever learned an important safety tip: don't eat before you go into water.
Eddie and Elvis seem to have a counter part on each team these are who they are assumed they are: Eddie....Rob (reason of choice: Rob, like Eddie, is a bit bossy and is probably a bit of a rebel and a leader) Elvis....Ashley (reason of choice: Ashley, like Elvis, tends to be a bit of a gossip due to his leader friend)
Amy, Wanda, Lou and Becky do not appear in this episode.
10. Stray Cat Star
Enlgish teen pop sensation Rodney West is making a new music video for his debut US hit single and everyone in UWM wants bright chompers so they can be in it, even Eddie and Allie but when they hear that Rob and Ashley are also going ot be on set, they decide to get even. As if that isn't bad enough, Rodney's rival - Del Murphy - is going to make his own video parodying Rodney's own. However, the gang get Rob and Ashley fired as co-directors and save the video which they shoot and all in one take.
NOTE: In Dr. Bender's office, a file can be seen labeled, "Malph, Alison Claire: Age 19" and another can be seen labeled "Weber, Edmund Warren: Aged 19"
According to Eddie, "Thunderbird Baby" is the second US hit song made by Rodney West, the first was "Your Game" which is also a Will Young song.
Rodney West looks and sounds like Will Young and Del Murphy looks and sounds like Darius Danesh.
Rodney's dad Marty West was in the early 60s group the Wonders.
Amy, Joanie, Chachi, Lou, Becky and Marion do not appear in this episode.
The janitor guy looks a bit like Simon Cowell a.k.a Mr Nasty.
11. Assault on Pfhister
When the Phfsiter Tower disappears, the gang deicide to investigate, Thunderbirds style.
NOTE: Jane, Becky, Lou, Amy and Chachi do not appear in this episode.
Wanda is now 16 years old.
Leather performs 'I May Be Too Young' with Wanda and Allie from 'Marion's Misgivings'.
The gang dance to 'Please Please Tell Me Now' by Duran Duran at the end of this episode.
12. Meet The Grandparents
Amy is asked to a report about her grandparents so she takes Danni's time machine and travels back to 1931 when her grandparents Howard and Marion Cunningham first met but the problem is that Howard is a bit tough and Marion has a boyfriend, Hector Con Carne who was Mr C's best friend back then.
NOTE: The plot of this episode is very similar to the first Back to the Future movie where Marty McFly disrupts his parents' first meeting.
Marion, Becky, Lou, Joanie and Chachi do not appear in this episode.
Eddie makes a slight reference to the events of Back to the Future, when Marty interrupted his parents' first meeting.
Hector acts a bit like Dr Benedict in Recess: School's Out.
When the Cunninghams met for the first time, Howard was a sophomore and Marion was a freshman in college.
dickswift 07-05-2004, 05:08 PM Hey! Its been a while since I ve been around, but I have been reading the board and reflecting life. Still writing a few concepts and networking.
I think you got the beat of story development, Bea! Some things I am a little uncertain about but as we say in french "Vas-y fort!"Plus your rap intro is hillarious! Word!If you want some more insight I would bee more than happy to do so. I even feel like picking up where I left off with my HD reunion speck script. I have been so busy in the last year. Mostly partying, but now I feel my muse starting to come back. Ihope you are doing well..take care..Uric Richard
Hey, dickswift, does that mean you'll write some Happy Days: 20 Years Later scripts for me?
dickswift 07-09-2004, 06:52 PM Sure Bea!
It will take some hard work in sense that this can actually become something broadcastable. I believe that a show like HD can be picked up for a newer audience both film and or tv. The obstacle is the right script and story development. For example All In The Family and Mary Tyler Moores' Lou Grant. Both shows continued with stronger character develpment and didnt neccessarily need to bring everyone back and cliche. Grants character even took a dramatic twist from the old caracature in front of a live audience. So if you feel up to it we would need to really have a creative chat on character/story development of a pilot, even if it is based on something previous. Basing it as a solid foundation on the previous show from season 1 till the finale. All emotional , quirks , attitude and compare that with real life that we all live. You see Bea, timing is everything. Enough of my bla bla..whats new with you? How did you get interested in HD?
Peace Uric Richard
13. Legends
What happens when the gang accidentally open a portal to a comic book world and meet up with superheroes from the past? A visit for the gang by the JLA that's what. While in Danni's secret lab, an accident involving Danni's portal machine and an explosion causes the gang to be transported to another dimension. They soon find that this new world is nothing like their own, but rather that from popular comic books. (Yes, the irony is obvious). In the new world, people are sickeningly nice to each other, ice cream trucks patrol the streets, the villains are outrageous and the heroes even more so. The gang initially battles the JLA, but they soon realize that they are on the same side. Eventually the Injustice Gang sends them a letter threatening to commit crimes that relate to Earth, Wind, and Fire. Both teams pair off and split up to take down the Injustice Gang. During the battles, Jane gets knocked out and lands in a cemetery. Shockingly, she discovers the tombstone of the legendary Hal Jordan!
NOTE: The Police Officer in the alternate dimension is a tribute to Officer Kirk. His accent is similar to Officer Kirk's own.
Marion, Richie, Lori Beth, Joanie, Chachi, Ralph, Leather, Potsie, Courtney, Wanda, Lou and Danny do not appear in this episode.
Wonder Woman’s homemaker act is a tribute to the days when superheroes and superheroines weren’t quite equal. In the early days, she used to be the Justice League’s secretary!
Every member of the Justice League actually has a corresponding member to a member in the gang. e.g Superman - Eddie, Wonder Woman - Allie, Hawkgirl - Danni, The Flash - Jane, Batman - Elvis and Superman - Gene.
14. Replay
A washed up child actress with a grudge goes on a stealing spree in the mall. She is a meta human with the ability to duplicate herself. The Really Mighty Teens him and chase one of her copies to an abandoned carnival. They fight the original as the building falls down around them, knocking them all out. They wake up and go home only to see themselves on the news going on a crime spree and attacking the police. The police turn on the gang and there is a reward for him. Even Danni's uncle Chachi doesn't believe Eddie. Allie guesses that Replay must have duplicated the Really Mighty Teens and convince Wanda, Amy, Joanie, Lori Beth, Leather, Courtney, Marion, Potsie, Ralph, Richie, Fonzie, Lou, Danny and Becky to help. The gang corner Replay at the TV studio and Richie, Potsie and Ralph film everything live as the gang fight their duplicates while Replay confesses to all the crimes. The Really Mighty Team are cleared and Replay heads for jail.
NOTE: The Season 1 finale.
Replay looks a lot like Sarah Chalke according to me.
This is Officer McKenna's first appearence, this episode also marks Captain Bunny Martell's first appearnce out of her Navy uniform.
Replay's real name is Sarah Christina Goranson.
Eddie is due to ask Allie to marry him, they would be engaged by the next season.
Season 2
15. Operation New Start
The summer of 1986 is almost over and the gang have all moved out of their parents homes and into the same apartment bulding. Eddie and Elvis are travelling through the desert later that night; in their car is Danni's new fuel, a substance that will explode if it gets too hot. Unknown to the pair, Professor Chaos and General Dissaray await them.
NOTE: The season 2 premeire.
There are many references to Thunderbirds in this episode.
Chachi mentions that Danni and the gang are now 20 years old.
The show has become a bit more like Friends because the gang all live in the same apartment building. Eddie and Allie live together, so do Gene and Elvis and Jane and Danni.
Amy is almost 16, Wanda is now 17, Lou is 12 and Becky is 14.
Amy mentions Micheal J. Fox in Teen Wolf.
16. Security Hazard
The Really Mighty Teens have just wrapped up another successful mission, helping to extinguish an out-of-control blaze and pulling the men trapped by it from the bottom of a shaft. The mission hasn't run as smoothly as initially believed, however, as Allie detects an intruder in the gang's treehouse HQ. With blasters drawn, Eddie, Gene and Elvis converge on the hangar, only to discover the "saboteur" is their friend Chip stowed away in an unguarded pod after excitedly witnessing the rescue in action. While Richie, Potsie, Roger and Ralph gives the gang a stern lecture about the security breach, Danni is supposed to be babysitting Chip's little brother Preston-- and keeping her mouth shut. She does a good job of it, until the boy challenges his manhood by saying that Old Sparky -- Potsie's uncle helicopter -- is the best. Jane's response to the inadvertent verbal slight is to fold like an accordion, spilling her guts about their first adventure as the Really Mighty Teens. After Courtney, Leather, Jenny and Lori Beth summon Allie to Courtney's office, Gene assumes the task of watching Preston. He claims that he'll reveal nothing, which of course means that he'll talk too much as well, recounting how the gang saved a doomed sun probe the week before. What will the parents of Milwaukee do about their childrens' carelessness, which has compromised the secrecy of the Really Mighty Teens? Whatever it is, they'd better act fast, because Jane and Gene haven't shut up yet. After losing his temper, R.J (Danni's older brother who is visiting Milwaukee) is further infuriated by his sister's loose lips, as they each recount a mission on which they've excelled. Luckily, Chachi, Amy, Joanie and Marion are in Chicago, otherwise all of their superhero transmission secrets would be revealed as well. At this point, Wanda should let Ralph and Leather be ready to disown Allie and get six new young superheroes, but she herself falls for the child's disarming nature, and it isn't long before she's describing her role in the group. The gang are off the hook, but problems still remain. Preston has seen all of their faces, and knows the location of the gang's treehouse HQ as well. How will they solve what is perhaps their greatest threat, despite its innocent appearance?
NOTE: This is R.J's first appearnece on the show.
Potsie and Eddie mention the Thunderbirds episode Security Hazard.
Marion, Joanie, Lou, Becky, Amy and Chachi don't appear in this episode.
dickswift 08-04-2004, 04:48 PM Well I see you have been writing up a storm of story there Bea! Good ...mind you I must say I am a little ...ok maybe a lot confused as to where you are going with this concept. as far as I know the cast is related to the original HD cast in one way or another. I understand that they are superheros made by a portal in animated time of sort.It is the 1980s and they are teens. There are many references to other pop cultural scenerios in film tv and music. Which my guess is to show how media nuts teens where in that period...I guess? There are many characters in these stories. In all I give you credit for keeping up a good write but where is the bible of evolution to how this all started? I wont dare say anything negative about your writing but I could give you some constructive critic to help you develop you stories better. Rules are made to be broken but not destroyed. In writing or "jumping the shark" for tv or film you should remember there is an intelligent audience out there that would like to appreciate your hard work and efforts. All I could is send you an example of a pre scripted story as to why all this could have been. Meaning the kids and portal. You see I think from Morks coming to Milwaulkee and taking Fonzie back in time caused a "Star Trek " change of destiny and reality in the world...for example...
