In the UK in 1980,we got a version of Maude called "Nobody's Perfect"starring Elaine Strich,it only lasted 13 episodes, remember it vaguely but from what I saw of "Maude" on a vist to the US,not a patch on the orginal.
I love Bea Arthur and Rue McClanahan from "The Golden Girls",I'd love to see "Maude" on DVD very soon!

Oh I bet she was great. I just saw her HBO Special "Elaine Strictch at Liberty" and loved it. I can imagine her in a Maude type of role.

Hi,
Yes she was,I like Elaine Strich a lot.
The problem is,when the UK tries to do a version of a US sitcom,it usually doesn't work, the one I can think of that worked was the UK version of "Whose the Boss?",called "The Upper Hand",which ran for several years here.
We had disastrous UK versions of "The Golden Girls" and "Married With Children"!

I wonder if It's on any channel in the United States. I'll have to look.

SHOOT!!! A PBS station actually ran this show awhile ago!! I had it confused with another Elaine show called "Two's Company" and I didn't watch it. Is this show on DVD? I wished I could've checked this show out. You don't see too many of the short-lived Britcoms on PBS , but they DO show up occasionally!
