View Full Version : So I guess Who's the Boss is too new of a show on N@N to be on for a full hour like

Actually, if you tape the 3:00am airing of Who's the Boss, you get one hour per night.

It would just be better if the show was on back to back like the stupid cosby show

Yeah, it would be better. It will get worse starting july 5th with the marathons and stuff.

I agree 100%.

But, imo, it was even stupider to put it at 10pm instead of sandwhiching it between Cosby Show and Roseanne, two of their more popular shows, but whatever. I still say it deserved an hour.

And guess what? They only have the rights for a freaking year, while all the other shows have multiple (Cheers has 7 years, Cosby SHow, who knows how long they have that) years.

I'm taping Seasons 2-8 while I can (1 is on DVD, so why tape that?) before it's dismissed off. I love the show and I pray that it does good in the ratings, but we'll see.

It really irks me too.

I mean even Full House and Wings(one of my fav. shows) Even got hour timeslots after their marathons, not to mention back to back hour timeslots.

I mean they're showing two different episodes each night, but still.

I think it'll do great in the ratings. It's still a really popular show. People said Full House would bomb on N@N and it hasn't. People said Wings doesn't do well on N@N, but obviously it does, or they wouldn't have kept the show after a year and some months.

I think this can only help the season 1 DVD release too. I can't wait for Season 2 to be released.

I agree, WTB is still a really popular show whether N@N thinks so or not. I think it'll do great in the ratings. Especially considering how badly ABC Family treated the show.

I am taping Seasons 2-8 as well, I just hope they don't skip any episodes, they do that to Wings, they skip episodes during the rotation cycles, plus they tend to skip Christmas episodes alot :(

I think it's not on for a full hour because of the deal with The Program Exchange. Usually their shows on Nick@Nite have limited number of airplays per night, like Coach and Charles in Charge. Didn't anyone notice that usually these shows weren't listed on the weekend schedule? And even Fantasy Island and The Love Boat for TV Land.

I too agree that they should have put Who's the Boss? at 10:30. Two reasons -- like TVJunkie101 said, sandwitched between Cosby Show and Roseanne. The second reason is that Cosby Show is more suited for children than Who's the Boss?, especially after Full House.

Hmm... you're probably right on that. I did notice Fantasy Island and Love Boat never seemed to be on weekends. Love Boat was for a bit, I think. Fantasy Island seemed to either air Weekdays or Weekends, not both.

Coach I believe was given one episode a night when it first started, right? But fan complaints on the TV Land boards made them do an hour at 11pm, but it still bombed. And Charles in Charge got double-takes for a while, then it went to one episode a night. And actually, the contracts are shorter for Program Exchange, it seems! Love Boat: 2 years (2001-2003, renewed 2003-2004) Fantasy Island: 1 year (2003-2004; renewed 2004-2005) Charles in Charge: 1 year, Coach: 2 years (2002-2004), Who's the Boss: 1 year (2004-2005). Is it just a N@N thing? because WTB was on Fox Family/ABC Family for quite a while.

When Who's the Boss? was on FOX/ABC Family, Columbia Tri-Star distributed it. The Program Exchange picked it up for distribution this year, on May 31. Some shows they only do local channels for, like Three's Company. DLT Entertainment distributes it for cable. Coach is going back to Universal for distribution, that's why USA Network is going to air it this fall.

So, The Program Exchange is not your ordinary syndication distributor. It can get confusing.

LOL ive seen the pilot episode like 10 times now, on ABC/Fox Family, one on my DVD, one on Nick@Nite during the marathon, and one last night on Nick@Nite. Looks like we have already figured out one of Nick@Nites favoite episodes!

What im angry about is Full House and Threes Company are going to be really overplayed with all this marathon stuff. For some reason, Full House has to air at 9:00 during the mini marathons. Probably becasue of Fatherhood on Tuesdays. And Three's Company is already taking over Nick@Nite  .

The Program Exchange has nothing to do with home entertainment. It is only for television syndication. Sony Pictures (aka: Columbia Tri-Star) owns the show. The Program Exchange is a company who "leases" shows to sell on syndication for a short period of time. They don't own any shows, they just lease them to syndicate and after awhile they usually go back to the owner.

I realized I was wrong about the theme song too, I seen that the theme song in the pilot is different than the rest of season 1 though, that's what threw me off.

N@N is starting from the beginning, but I kinda wish they'd start with Season 2, cause of the DVDs, that's when I'm gonna start taping them :)

Personally my feelings are that only 1 network at a time should be allowed to air shows. Since FH is on ABC Family, then it shouldn't be on N@N and vice versa, same with Cosby, Roseanne, etc....

All I can say is eventually people will get burnt out on these shows, it might take awhile, but after they've taped all the episodes, they'll start getting bored with them.

If it weren't for The Program Exchange you wouldn't have Who's the Boss? on Nick@Nite right now. Because I'm sure Sony wouldn't have let Nick@Nite have it. Nick@Nite probably got it very cheap from The Program Exchange.

List of sitcoms/dramas for that The Program Exchange currently leases for syndication:

The Addams Family (cable, not sure about locals)
Amen (cable & locals)
Bosom Buddies (cable & locals)
Charles in Charge (cable & locals)
Coach (cable & locals)
Dear John (cable & locals)
Fantasy Island (cable & locals)
Leave it to Beaver (cable & locals)
Taxi (cable & locals)
The Abbott & Costello Show (cable & locals)
The Love Boat (cable only)
The Munsters (cable & locals)
The Odd Couple (cable & locals)
Three's Company (locals only)
Webster (cable only)
Who's the Boss (cable & locals)

Come this fall, they are losing Amen, Coach, Dear John, Webster, and Three's Company. So Amen and Coach go back to Universal and they have to distribute it. Dear John & Webster goes back to its owner, Paramount. Program Exchange only has Three's Company for local channels, so it will go back to DLT Entertainment for that. When The Program Exchange had Too Close for Comfort it was locals only, like Three's Company and DLT Entertainment had the cable portion.

So now everyone should know why it's called "The Program Exchange." They lease it from the owners of the show to distribute for a short period of time.

Ohh, okay. I don't know much about syndication distribution but I had a feeling that The Program Exchange wasn't responsible for Who's the Boss during the Fox/ABC Family years because I remember the end credits with the logos and such...

HARDLY AIR IT????

It's airing 10 times a week per week for the rest of the month. Then next month, it will air 4 hours in a row on Wednesday Night. That's 8 episodes, plus it'll still air 1 time on Sunday so it's still 9 times a week.

Compared to how many times a night the rest of their show(with the exception of Wings) air per night, that's hardly airing it.

I wonder how they're gonna work this once they start airing Murphy Brown and Fresh prince, cause with the double takes, they'll run out of timeslots

Pav said that they will still have double takes but they will be limited. I think Full House, Fresh Pricne, Murphy Brown, and Who's The Boss? will have two episodes per night. The reason FH will be 1 ep per night is because Fresh Prince probably wont air any later than 10. The schedule might look something like this:

9:00 PM- Full House
9:30 PM- The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air
10:00 PM- Who's The Boss?
10:30 PM- Murphy Brown
11:00 PM- The Cosby Show
11:30 PM- The Cosby Show
12:00 AM- Roseanne
12:30 AM- Roseanne
1:00 AM- The Cosby Show
1:30 AM- The Cosby Show
2:00 AM- Roseanne
2:30 AM- Roseanne
3:00 AM- Whos The Boss?
3:30 AM- Murphy Brown
4:00 AM- Wings
4:30 AM- Cheers
5:00 AM- Full House
5:30 AM- The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air

Nick@Nite shouldnt air any more new shows, after Murphy Brown, unless they COMPLETLEY get rid of double takes.
