View Full Version : TVDVDs You're Not Satisfied With??
barwars 06-20-2004, 09:05 AM What TVDVDs are you unsatisfied with??
Whether the show was edited, its only a best-of release, or the picture quality is terrible....
warn us.
Ant-Lox 06-20-2004, 10:35 AM Best of the Steve Harvey show...only has 5 episodes....I really want it to be relesaed in season sets...or at least Sony could come out with Volume 2...
Adamantium 06-20-2004, 12:41 PM Saved by the Bell: Seasons 1 & 2
Saved by the Bell: Seasons 3 & 4 - Both DVDs have been edited. They use the syndicated theme song for most (Not all) of the season 1 and 2 episodes. I wanted each episode to have their original opening and that wasn't the case. Plus in the season 3 set, I noticed a scene cut out. Why release it if it's gonna be cut up?
Best of Mister Ed - One reason because I'd rather have the complete first season and secondly because the episodes aren't "the best." I bought it, and I'll buy volume 2 just hoping that it will boost sales and give them the idea to put it in season sets.
All M*A*S*H Seasons - The episodes are great, my only two complaints are that there are no bonus features and the episodes are in broadcast order. For this series I prefer production order. I have a M*A*S*H book, with an episode guide and it goes by production order. So that's the way I like to view it. I know that's nitpicking, but that's me for you.
barwars 06-20-2004, 12:45 PM Shows being edited should be against the law.
There should be a disclosure on the box saying something along the lines of "some scenes have been cut for various reasons, sorry for any inconvience"
Sure, they'd loose sales -- but then they wouldnt be lying to the people that buy it no matter what.
And about Mister Ed, I'd buy a Season Set in a heartbeat.... but I have no interest in a "Best-of"
vashti1999 06-21-2004, 10:53 AM Only slightly dissatisfied with the SBTB sets, because of audio glitches I noticed when listening with headphones and on Soap - Season 1 there's an episode or two where the picture looks kind of bad.
The Fat Albert TimeLife volumes I have are cool just because I love and grew up with that show, but there are just three episodes per disc, and I just know they're going to release it as a more convienient (sp) box set to tie-in with the movie that's coming out. So in that respect, I'm not satisfied that they didn't just do the box set thing from the start.
Shiela HUMPhrews 06-22-2004, 01:33 AM I'm VERY unsatisfied with Queer As Folk season sets. In viewing some of the episodes, I'd noticed half of the scenes that dealt with lovemaking got either partially edited or completely cut out. I was so mad because that's like the best part of the show.
PZelda 06-22-2004, 01:35 AM Definitely the Three's Company DVD's. Don't get me wrong - I love them - but wow. Artisan is sooooo cheap. They can't even take the time to straighten out their bugs. My S1 DVD is fine -- but I had problems with 3 episodes on the S2 DVD. :thumbsdow
They need to get their act together for the S3 DVD and do it right.

This (http://www.sitcomsonline.com/boards/showthread.php?s=&threadid=112467) is why the episodes should be in production order (with the exception of "Goodbye, Farewell and Amen," which was actually produced before "As Time Goes By").

Amen....Plus, they didn't start with Zack's 8th grade year (the REAL first season). I DON'T CARE if it's nothing like Zack's 9th grade year....just release it anyway. It's what got SBTB started.

But that was actually a different series, with a different title. The episodes were just re-packaged as Saved By The Bell episodes when SBTB went into syndication.
I'm sure Good Morning, Miss Bliss will have its own release eventually.

Still. They could've done GMMB first. :nonono:

I've only seen the first season on Showtime, but the episodes on DVD were exactly the same as I remembered them on Showtime. Unless you have parental lock or something on your DVD player that is causing it to skip the sexual scenes

Ditto. I LOVE Three's Company but the DVD's suck, on season two there was just so many glitches. One of the episodes actually took effort to get to play. And it wouldn't fully play, there was problems.

Maybe it has to do with licensing. Didn't NBC license SBTB and The College Years to two different companies (Lions Gate and Artisan, respectively)?
Maybe NBC doesn't even own GMMB. It originally ran on The Disney Channel. Perhaps Buena Vista are the people to talk to.

UGH, the problems I had w/ my S2 DVD's weren't as bad as that. With all 3 eps, it started at the middle fade-in and I had to rewind to get to the beginning of the ep. A bunch of times, I had problems where it skipped...but I'd go back and they had straightened themselves out.

I did a quick check - There isn't any info on TVShows about which co. has the rights to GMMB. :( :cuss:

Hmm, that's odd. I didn't have any problems with the season 2 DVD. I did have a few problems with the season 1 DVD, although I just got a faulty disc or something like that. -.-
I've liked just about all the TV DVDs I've gotten, so I can't really answer, which is a good thing I guess.

barwars 06-24-2004, 03:40 PM I had problems with both Season 1 and Season 2 of TC.... but when I tried on my family's DVD player, it worked fine.
The GMMB episodes were the best of any SBTB.
