View Full Version : Sitcom Characters That Annoy You??
barwars 06-18-2004, 03:21 PM You can ONLY include characters from shows you like, otherwise -- get out.
Phoebe Buffay - Friends.
She just doesn't fit, she had no depth, she's just a ditz. IMO, a different character would've been better.
Gilligan - Gilligan's Island
Probably the only TV character that actually pisses me off. Just when they're about to get rescued/off the island.... he mucks it up. Sure, he's funny for the first 15 minutes, but for those last 10 -- just SHOOT him. If they just killed Gilligan, they'd all be rescued.
EmoJoe 06-18-2004, 03:41 PM Debra from Everybody Loves Raymond
She was a nag.
Chambers 06-18-2004, 03:45 PM Friends: Phoebe
Phoebe gets on my nerves for the same reasons barwars noted (although I loved her the first few times I saw her).
Roseanne: Becky
Something about her rubbed me the wrong way. She was a good counterpart to Darlene, but she wasn't very funny. I guess I have a thing about older sisters...
The Simpsons: Lisa
She's a great character, but sometimes her superiority gets on my nerves...which is kind of strange, because I like the character of Diane Chambers so much. The thing with Lisa is that the writers treat her with very little irony (unlike Diane, whose superiority is largely unfounded). I guess it comes down to this: Lisa is pretty perfect, and that annoys me.
Note: I don't hate any of these characters, and I love all three shows.
barwars 06-18-2004, 03:45 PM Clair Huxtable - The Cosby Show
Cliff must've REALLY loved her, because all she ever did was tell him what to do. :whip
Pam - The Cosby Show
I was wrong, Gilligan isn't the only TV character that pisses me off. Pam on The Cosby Show is perhaps the best example of a new character killing a show.
Carol Brady - The Brady Bunch
She did NOTHING. She didn't work, she didn't do anything around the house, and she didn't do much with the kids. IMO, she was a terrible mother, and a disgrace to the working-woman. Mike Brady was a great father, but Carol was a BUM.

I understand where you are coming from, but I also think that Lisa is only perfect with book-smarts. It always seemed to me that she didn't have many friends, which serves her right with her superiority-complex. Although, she is my favorite acutal Simpson.... unless you include the Grandpa.
vashti1999 06-18-2004, 03:55 PM Two off the top of my head: Bookman from Good Times, and Screech from Saved By The Bell:The New Class, I liked him on the original, though.
Chocoholic 06-18-2004, 03:59 PM Ray, Frank, and Debra Barone (I don't like that show anymore, so I don't know if I can post that here :D )
Diane Chambers (Cheers)
Cousin Pam, Olivia, and Martin (The Cosby Show)

Yes, you're right. She's only perfect in terms of book-smarts. She reminds me of a lot of friends I used to have...and even a little of myself when I was younger. Yes, I actually annoyed myself. But I like to think I've always had a sense of humor - she takes things too seriously. And I love Abe Simpson, too.
One more:
Boy Meets World: Topanga
She was funny when she was younger - but when they started to date, she started to get on my nerves. She lost her uniqueness.
Czas na Zywiec 06-18-2004, 04:05 PM Something about Antonio (Wings) rubbed me the wrong way. There's been a few times where he's been funny, but overall, I'm just annoyed by him. I used to think the same about Casey when she first joined the cast, but I've grown to love her now. :D

 Phoebe rocks!!!!!!!!! Without her the show would have been realllllllllly boring LOL
I would have to say Minkus on Boy Meets World, he really had no purpose but to insult Shawn and Cory the whole first season
Alex Lambert on Wings, I couldn't stand her.
The whole gang on Seinfeld except Kramer, IMO Kramer was the show!
Mr. Television 06-18-2004, 05:24 PM Clair Huxtable. I couldn't stand her.
Penny Lane 06-18-2004, 08:28 PM Ann Romano- One Day At A Time
Potsie Weber- Happy Days
Charlie Dietz-Empty Nest
Anybody on Married With Children:rolleyes:
Ant-Lox 06-18-2004, 09:26 PM Slater- SBTB

Not me, I loved Minkus.
Much better than any of the "college friends"

 No!!!!!! ;) I loved Jack, Rachel I am iffy on and I loved Shawn and Angela together
dandelion wine 06-19-2004, 01:14 AM Claire Huxtable and Olivia - The Cosby Show
Chrissy Seaver - Growing Pains
Buddy - Charles in Charge
Winnie Cooper - The Wonder Years
James 06-19-2004, 01:19 AM The following sitcom characters annoyed me:
Coach: Christine Armstrong Fox, Kelly Fox
The Cosby Show: Olivia
Family Matters: "3J"
Home Improvement: Wilson Wilson
Perfect Strangers: Mary Ann Spencer
The Waltons: Rose, Serena, and Jeffrey Burton
The Wonder Years: Vice Principal Diperna, Becky Slater
dawsongirl 06-19-2004, 03:50 AM Marya, that Russian spy on Hogan's Heroes.
Amanda Bellows on I Dream of Jeannie. She's grown on me a little.
Carolyn Appleby on I Love Lucy.
The landlady on My Favorite Martian...whose name I forgot.
barwars 06-19-2004, 05:02 PM Originally posted by Topanga

I still love Rachel and Jack. Although Angela never got a laugh out of me.
But, nothing beats that first year. BMW peaked at the start, although remained great until the end. (with a little break at Season 5....:p )
Shiela HUMPhrews 06-21-2004, 04:34 AM Lenny & Squiggy from Laverne & Shirley. These two dweebs were as annoying as hell. I can't stand their voices nor their "hello" catchphrase.
Larry Dallas from Three's Company. He may have been a ladies' man, but he sure wasn't a good-looking one, that's for sure. I've always wondered why ladies took after him so quick ... he had nothing to offer except sex and even that I bet he was bad at it.
Mrs. Cunningham from Happy Days. Her cheerfullness annoys the heck out of me. AND she's nothing like of what I consider a mother. IMO, she's a wanna-be mom with no spice or flavor!

The landlady on My Favorite Martian...whose name I forgot. You mean Mrs. Loralee Brown (Pamela Britton)..what an airhead!
Lady T 06-21-2004, 04:23 PM Officer Carl Levitt of Barney Miller; annoying, kiss ass...
JJ Evans of Good Times; just plain annoying..
Bookman of Good Times...
Horshack of Welcome Back, Kotter; just looking at him, made me sick to my stomach...
Herb from WKRP in Cincinnati; wished Venus would had kicked him in the ass...
Terri Cardellini 06-21-2004, 05:36 PM Lenny & Squiggy ~ Laverne & Shirley
Larry ~ Three's Company
Mr. Roper ~ Three's Company
Mrs. Roper ~ Three's Company
Sterling Holobyte 06-21-2004, 05:46 PM Urkel - Family Matters
More like the guy who played him annoyed me more than the character itself. He played him like he was trying too hard to be the stereotypical nerd, and to me, he didn't fit that role IMO. I don't know, it just annoyed me.
Chain Gang Member 06-21-2004, 06:57 PM Bob Pinciotti-That 70s Show
EmoJoe 06-21-2004, 07:46 PM never mind...
Ohio8 07-01-2004, 01:11 PM Jenny Picallo on "Happy Days" and Kimmy Gibler on "Full House." Not only were they annoying, tyhey also fell into the "wacky best friends" and...Jenny was a slut, and not only was Kimmy also, Kimmy had a sick crush on Jesse and hit on men. Yech!!!:(
EmoJoe 07-01-2004, 02:12 PM Oh, and more:
Aaron- Full House
Billy- Whos The Boss?
And sometimes Michelle on Full House bugged me when she always got her way, but I still liked her
EmoJoe 07-01-2004, 02:15 PM And:
Blair (The Facts of Life)
Mrs. Ducky 07-01-2004, 02:39 PM Judy Hennsler and Larry Mondello on Leave it to Beaver

whuchutalkinbout 08-04-2005, 02:37 PM I am sooo glad I am not the only one that found Clair annoying. I thought something was wrong with me all these years...plus she couldn't really act.
Other annoying characters:
Kimmie Gibler - Full House
The next door neighbors from Small Wonder. That girl with the red pigtails and her fat moms.
The landlord (Paul Winfield) on 227
Sam from Diffrent Strokes
whuchutalkinbout 08-04-2005, 07:40 PM Blossom
GeorgiaboyJeff! 08-04-2005, 08:29 PM Steve Urkel - Family Matters.. It was cool to have Steve but not make him the main focus of the show, plus the constant clumsiness & the "Did I do" that phrase makes me cringe & change the channel everytime I hear it!!
Cosby Show - Have lots for this show.. Grandparents,Sondra & Elvin, old guest stars..
Roseanne - Bev... I know she was supposed to be funny but I was annoyed right along with the Connor family everytime I heard her voice.
JJ - Goodtimes.. I didn't see what was so funny to me.. His jokes were corny & he was too annoying..
Three's Company - Chrissy annoyed me at times.. but not all the time..
Penny Lane 08-04-2005, 08:38 PM [QUOTE=GeorgiaboyJeff!
Roseanne - Bev... I know she was supposed to be funny but I was annoyed right along with the Connor family everytime I heard her voice.
.[/QUOTE]
Bev was supposed to be annoying! Guess she did a good job!
Céline 08-05-2005, 02:01 PM It's characters with annoying voices that I hate the most...
Steve Urkel(Family Matter)
Fran (The Nanny)
Rosanne (Rosanne)
Edith Bunker(All in the Family)
Mrs.Kravitz(Bewitched)
slackermonkey 08-15-2005, 12:58 AM "Frasier's" version of Frasier. I always liked him on "Cheers," but for some reason he just irritates the hell out of me on his own show. Watching him back to back on both shows makes me realize they tweaked his character a little too much to make him more pompous, arrogant and cultured. I still enjoy the show, but I watch for the other characters and the farcical humor, never for the main character.
evilNpunk 02-27-2006, 02:51 AM The Cosby Show - Oliva, Pam, the twins, Elvin
Roseanne - Arny, Becky #2, Nancy
Becker - Linda, Bob
(not sure if this counts but) Family Guy - Meg, although I love it when they make fun of her
Mrs. John Ritter 02-27-2006, 10:43 PM Roseanne-Nancy,Bev
Cheers-Diane Chambers
Family Matters-Steve Urkel
Full House-Kimmie Gibler
snl 70s show fan 02-27-2006, 11:07 PM diane chambers cheers and sam royer one day at a time are the 2 that really get on my nerves
Buffyboy323 02-28-2006, 01:39 PM Tony Micelli of "Who's The Boss"
I cannot stand his voice or his stupid non-funny jokes.
treky 02-28-2006, 04:14 PM Fonzie-"Happy Days". I liked him when it first became "The Fonzie show" when I was still in high school, but now his wearing that leather jacket, etc. just annoys the hell out of me.
Karen-"Will & Grace"
Jack-"Will & Grace"
ky24943 02-28-2006, 05:59 PM Danny Tanner (Full House)
Cindy Snow (Three's Company)
comedyfreak 03-01-2006, 11:27 AM Olivia -The Cosby Show
Leon-Roseanne
megamanj2004 03-02-2006, 07:40 PM J.J. - Good Times
My God! He was like a talkin' parrot on that show! Every time James Sr. tells him to shut up, he still keeps talkin'! I'm surprised he didn't knock him upside his head!
Lisa - Simpsons
While her book-smart persona can be reasonable, it can also be grating on my teeth. But she isn't as bad as Marge is.
Marge - Simpsons
A big time nagger! Her nagging really grates my teeth to a T!!!
Peggy Hill - King of the Hill
Like Marge, she too has a habit of grating my teeth! And worse, she even gets all defensive when she thinks that Hank is cheating on her, but yet she goes behind Hank and cheats on him.
Fez - That '70s Show
Can be funny in healthy doses, otherwise he can be very annoying after a while!
Olivia - Cosby Show
The main reason why Cosby started tanking in the ratings! And here's why: Olivia first started out as cute, but son after, she became an annoying lil' brat that's just trying to "be" what Rudy used to be.
Diane Chambers - Cheers
My god! I dunno what to say about this broad! Except for several things:
-TOO PRISSY OFF AND ON CAMERA
-ACTS LIKE A TOTAL NE-ER-DO-WELL THAT ALWAYS RUINS THE FUN ON THE SHOW
-AND A OVERALL BITCHY PERFECTIONIST W/ AN ANNOYING VOICE!
That's why I liked it when Carla was always roasting her annoying butt!

pastense55 03-03-2006, 12:28 AM I agree Diane Chambers is one of the most annoying of all time. Also Howard Sprague from Andy griffith I hatedhim and Jeff Conaway's character from Taxi. And Weezi Jefferson AAAARRRRGGGHHH. THAT VOICE!!!!!
megamanj2004 03-03-2006, 01:02 PM And I also dispised Diane for the way she stood Sam and Fraiser up, too!
And had Frasier stayed w/ that bitch, he would of made my list of most annoying characters, but he thankfully he stayed away from this list by dumping her like a bad habit!
Even Lilith is far more tolerable than Diane ever was!
megamanj2004 03-03-2006, 01:31 PM others to count are:
THE ENTIRE TANNER FAMILY FROM FULL HOUSE ESPECIALLY:
Danny "Everything's gotta be Clean, Clean, Clean!" Tanner
Joey Tanner - SHUT UP, ALREADY!!! YOU'RE NOT FUNNY!!!
Stephany Tanner - If hear her say "How Rude!" one more time, I'd like to show her how rude it is when I smakc her upside her head and stuff a towel in her mouth!
Michelle Tanner - You're not cute then, you're now cute now!!!
Kimmy - UGH!!! GOD!!! This lady looks an anorexic she-male w/ a very annoying persona to a T! How can D.J. be friends w/ this she-male!
Steve Urkel - Family Matters
How in the blue hell did he save this show from cancellation? With his ultra-annoying voice that everyone wants to smack the snot of outta him and drop him on his head. ULTRA-ANNOYING AND IRRITATING!!! AND I'M NOT GONNA EVEN GET STARTED WITH THAT "DID I DO THAT?" PHRASE, EITHER!!!
Buddy Lembeck - Charles in Charge
Another reason why I now disliked this show. He was a total klutz and his presence can be a hindrance as well!
Mrs. Roper - Three's Company
YESSS!!!! UGH!!! I can plainly see why Mr. Roper wanted to divorce her ugly ass! Just lookin' at her made me wanna puke red and yellow!
Sam - Diff'rent Strokes
The exact equivalent to how The Cosby Show tanked is also how Diff'rent Strokes tanked! He was annoying and always in the way of things waaaaaay too much!
Fonzie - Happy Days
He was good, but once Richie and Ralph left, it became too much like "The Fonzie Show" and that was a no-no!!!
Whitley Gilbert-Wayne - Different World
She got a back, but a very annoying squeaky voice to boot!!!
snl 70s show fan 03-03-2006, 11:28 PM I agree Diane Chambers is one of the most annoying of all time. Also Howard Sprague from Andy griffith I hatedhim and Jeff Conaway's character from Taxi. And Weezi Jefferson AAAARRRRGGGHHH. THAT VOICE!!!!! how can anboddy say that about howard sparuge he was the best part of the andy griffth show NOT i was just kidding i cant stand that simpring mamas boy
Ireneparalegal 03-04-2006, 12:11 AM Clair Huxtable - The Cosby Show
Cliff must've REALLY loved her, because all she ever did was tell him what to do.
WHOOPEE ON CLAIRE AND PAM!!!!!!!!!!!! Add Denise and Sondra too.
Disneyguy 03-05-2006, 01:39 AM Clair Huxtable - The Cosby Show

Working mothers that don't just HAVE to work are the real tramps. They care more about having money and a BETTER lifestyle than their kids. Carol Brady was a wonderful mom. She was ALWAYS THERE FOR her kids.
I had a nightmare childhood where my dad beat my mom all throughout my childhood.
THE ONLY GOOD THING OUT OF MY CHILDHOOD WAS I HAD A MOM TO COME HOME TO AFTER SCHOOL. MY mom was NOT at some job seeking her OWN SELF INTERESTS. My mom was at home FOR ME.

Carol Brady was a wonderful mom. She was always there for her kids not like these working moms that are never there for their kids.
Jonathan 03-05-2006, 03:18 PM Carol Brady is a bum?

That was a good one!
Kinda reminds me how Ric Flair on WWE trated Shelton Benjamin!
The Nature Boy don't give title shots to a...MAMA'S BOY!!!
megamanj2004 03-08-2006, 10:10 PM And:
Blair (The Facts of Life)
You hated Blair, huh?
You're gonna laugh at this:
On yesterday's ep. of FoL, where Jo tries to become a nun, Blair runs her mouth as usual by screaming at Jo asking her "If you're a god, then show me a sign!"
And which in turn Jo answers back and decks Blair in the jaw!
ChanandMon 07-14-2006, 11:05 AM Ross Friends
Rebecca Cheers
Chrissy Seaver Growing Pains
the entire cast of Full House

:yeahthat
Heather987 07-17-2006, 01:39 AM TCS - Pam and her friends they made the show too ghetto
TCS - Olivia we didnt need her taking over the whole show like the Cosby kids didnt exsist any longer. Didnt care for her character.
TCS - Claire she always had to be right and her "let the record show" statements irritated me
Cheers - Rebecca got used to Diane and didnt like the change. I guess in all fairness she probably was okay.
Family Ties - The youngest boy they had, he just wasnt a good fit IMO
Growing Pains - Ben he was annoying especially when he got older
Growing Pains - Krissy she wasnt needed
Roseanne - Roseanne and DJ both annoying
Mamas Family - Iola she as stupid
Different Strokes - Sam
KurtfromPitts 07-19-2006, 02:11 PM Aunt Esther-"Sanford And Son",-like I once posted before, I would like to see Fred sock her in the stomach. Lois-"Malcolm In The Middle"-how the family puts up with a shrewish mom is beyond me. And the entire cast of "The Wonder Years",
shaeluv12 10-07-2006, 07:30 PM Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm im going to say Peg Bundy,Pheobe Buffey,Steve urkel, and Kimmy annoying Gibbler so annoying.
