I thought the show was pretty funny, however, they did pick on Bush and the Conservatives quite a bit. You think that is the reason they dropped the show?

View Full Version : Why was Whoopi axed? globalspot28 06-18-2004, 01:13 PM I thought the show was pretty funny, however, they did pick on Bush and the Conservatives quite a bit. You think that is the reason they dropped the show? Brent88 06-18-2004, 02:39 PM Poor ratings. globalspot28 06-18-2004, 05:06 PM I didn't think it was that bad, considering it was on Tuesday nights. Tuesday nights are not very good for NBC. kimkong21 06-18-2004, 05:40 PM The show had some nice qualities, but the ratings were not strong enough.I think they really wanted to go after the All In The Family crowd, but a lot of them are dead and in this day and age it's not a fresh idea. Maybe Whoppi isn't the one who can make a show of this nature appealing to a wider audience. Pobably because Whoppi Goldberg was not easy on the eyes. globalspot28 06-19-2004, 11:20 AM Originally posted by TVShow Analyzer Pobably because Whoppi Goldberg was not easy on the eyes. Neither was Roseanne, her show still became a major hit. ;) TVFactFan 06-19-2004, 11:28 AM Originally posted by globalspot28 Neither was Roseanne, her show still became a major hit. ;) She didn't look as bad as Whoopi Skywalker 06-19-2004, 03:23 PM The show was axed cause of poor ratings and the fact that the star, Whoopi Goldberg, just isn't funny. James"Thunder"Early 06-19-2004, 07:32 PM It was axed because Bush didn't like it, the ratings were fine. Skywalker 06-19-2004, 08:00 PM Originally posted by CoolCounty It was axed because Bush didn't like it, the ratings were fine. That's not true. Superstar 07-21-2004, 01:18 PM I didn't think the show was that bad Ashlenian 02-21-2005, 01:14 PM I didn't think it was funny at all. EmpressDR 12-26-2006, 10:43 PM I've always been a Whoopie Goldberg fan, and was sad it was canceled. I taped as many of the eps as I could --but my tapes were recently stolen. There were some really funny episodes! I want to see them again! I'd like a DVD, with added stuff. BTW, I wonder if any regular viewers of shows could ever have a chance of helping to create one of these DVDs? I've seen DVDs of little-to-well-known films and TV shows which had no commentary nor extras, yet a biography could've been produced and added. BTW, Brent, are YOU the one who created the smilie named "Brent"? :brent [ "brent" ] :clap really EXCELLENT! |
