I am so glad..... it is about time! It is nice to see him next to Redd Foxx on the list too, he did admire Redd. It was nice to see Jimmy Doohan on the list.... I got to meet him once, what a nice guy. He autographed a picture I sketched of him. This was back in HS, many moons ago! Beam me up, Scotty! LOL

Cheryl. I don't know if they will show the full ceremony of the star presentation. I was in Hollywood when the Monkees got there's. My friends attended the ceremony from a FAR DISTANCE. As I stood in line at the hotel banquet room awaiting front row seats for all four guys for a news conference. Well anyways.. I was able to receive a copy of the actual ceremony from the guy who video taped it. My guess is if anyone of us is lucky enought to be able to be there, find someone who is close enough to video tape it and make an offer and ask for a copy.

that the reason they waited so long was because the circumstances of the way Freddie died, they wouldn't consider him for a star than, but even so when his Mom was able to have the ruling changed to accidental he should have gotten his star than.

"To get their names chiseled into one of the highly sought-after plaques, stars need to be nominated by admirers who are also willing and able to pony up $15,000, should the nominee be selected.
Eligible celebs must be at least five years into their twinkling careers and must agree to show up for the unveiling of their star--which can be a taxing duty for your average A-lister. Then there are the star recipients who won't be in attendance at their unveiling ceremonies...because they're dead."
Star eligibility for walk of Fame (http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/eo/20040618/en_celeb_eo/14339)

I knew all along that this was more than stars getting their due.... ever since some of us on here talked about Freddie being honored... I remember having conversations with a couple of the Chico chicks a few years ago about how the Monkees got their star.... and about the fund raising it took. I still don't think it is less of an honor when the fans have to go and raise the money for the walk, but that is a factor.

Yes, I remember when the talk about the Monkees getting them a star on the walk of fame and the cost it was back the. Seeing that there was a huge following back in 89 when they recieved there star I pitched in a whopping 4 dollars. One for each of the guys who all showed up. LOL

If I remember correctly when the Monkees got there Star in 89. They had blocked the fans /spectators away quite a distance from the ceramony. I was lucky though to find a video tape of the event surface at a local Record convention in our area. Who knows now a days, a copy could be surfacing after the event on Ebay or around here for those who would want to purchase a copy

I was looking on a few entertainment sites to see if this would be covered on TV anywhere and I wasn't able to find anything. Anyone know if this will get any TV coverage??? If not, I hope Isaac takes some pics and shares them with us. This is a big day for the family, friends, and fans of Freddie Prinze. It needs to be shared with the world.

BTW I had a dream last night that I hit the lottery (someone near us just hit it big again) and that I was able to get airline tickets and hotel reservations for all of Freddie's fans on here to go to the ceremony. It was a nice dream. Then we all paid a respectful visit to the cemetery to see Freddie together.

Yesterday after reading this thread I took a nap & I dreamed about Freddie. It started out that I was with Starsky & Hutch & wound up on a conveyor belt like at an airport & was riding on it. Suddenly it stopped & threw me off. Starsky & Hutch had been shooting their guns & I was so worried about them. & Then I looked up & there was Freddie. He looked kinda like Ira Augustain did in the movie on Freddie but he had a beard with his mustache. I said Oh my God you're Freddie Prinze & you're alive. He said he was alive. He acted like like George Lopez tho. I was still worried about Starsky & Hutch but was excited to see Freddie. I never did see Starsky & Hutch again. Suddenly Freddie turns into a woman with a beard & is fat & wearing a 70's type dress made out of 70's type polyester with a 70's type print on it. Then he goes back to being a man. I told him was a woman & he said what ya looking at huh? He does back & forth between being a man & a woman & then finally there are 2 Freddies. One's a man & ones a woman. LOL! I told him he was supposed to get a star on the walk of fame & he said I am, that's cool. I kept saying Freddies getting a star on the walk of fame, Freddie, Freddie Freddie. I finally started talking in my sleep saying, I kept saying Freddies getting a star on the walk of fame, Freddie, Freddie Freddie. I actually woke up saying Freddie, Freddie, Freddie.

Some weird stuff happened after that. I woke up with a stuffed nose & it later went away. The a few minutes later the phone rang & we couldn't get to it in time so we had the answering machine get it. Somehow the call was a conversation between 2 men & one was named Joe & The other guy wanted to meet Joe later & they made plans. Weird...

The late Freddie Prinze gets Hollywood star

Associated Press

LOS ANGELES - Freddie Prinze Jr. shed tears Tuesday as he unveiled a Hollywood Walk of Fame star for his late father, who committed suicide in 1977.

The elder Prinze was a standup comic who had a successful run in the sitcom "Chico and the Man" before ending his life at age 22.

The younger Prinze, star of the "Scooby-Doo" movies and teen romances like "She's All That," was only 10 months old when his father died.

"I always get overwhelmed when it comes to speaking about my father," the 28-year-old told the crowd during the Hollywood Boulevard ceremony. "To see the respect from the people in L.A. and New York where my father was from brings tears to my eyes. To walk by and see his name on this star wow. I love you all for coming out here."

Comedian George Lopez, who nominated the late comedian and sponsored the star, also attended the event.

"'Chico and the Man' inspires me today as it did back then," said the star of TV's "The George Lopez Show." "This is a big day for us and his friends. Freddie Jr. and I have become very close and are working together now on a new television show."

Thanks soooo much, Suz, for posting those wonderful letters from Luis and Isaac. Reading what they had to say made me a part of the scene. I could really feel like I was there. I hope Isaac takes George up on his offer to be on his show, that would be the bomb! LOL

Sounds like those who were close to Freddie still remember him with fondness. That is sooo cool. Freddie Jr. couldn't help but be touched and impressed with all of his dad's old friends there. Makes me wish I had been there to see it. At least we, Freddie's fans, can feel proud that our Prinze has got his due. Thanks again, G-Lo for being the ultimate Freddie fan and promoting this star for Freddie. We appreciate you!

I loved reading those letters from Isaac and Luis, so I add my thanks!

I also wanted to let everyone know -- there's a photo gallery of the Hollywood Walk of Fame event on the front page of freddieprinzejr.com, along with links to coverage from Inside Edition and Access Hollywood. I actually downloaded those clips and got them to play, and I can't always do that kind of thing well. (Be sure to right-click on each link, then click Save Target As.) The clips are great, especially the one from Inside Edition, which shows a nice picture of the two Freddies superimposed together, along with the actual unveiling of the star. FPJ's emotion shows through on both clips -- we should all be proud of him, and I'm sure Freddie Sr. is.

I agree as well the Inside edition one was a cryer. I watched that one over and over. Seeing Freddie Jr and the clips from Freddie's show was emotional

I couldn't even feel myself breathing I was concentrating so hard while watching the clips. I am so so so glad to see FPJ embrassing the memory of his father.

It was cool reading the jr site's take on the star for their fav stars father. I am so glad they got into the unveiling as well. It is wonderful to see the young people seeing our Freddie and realizing how wonderful he was.

I know I am not posting a lot, but this site and sharing the love for Freddie has just fulfilled my life, and closed a gap in my heart that I always felt was missing in recognition for my love of our Freddie. I am so glad I can share this momentous occasion with all of you.

I can't imagine what Freddie Jr was going through. His heart felt feelings for his father and the love that was shown all around him for his father.

Suzanne, that is a wonderful creation. Thanks for sharing it with us. I don't want to start any controversy, but when Jr talked about his father's family and friends on that clip, and especially his mother and his grandmother, Maria, I couldn't help but feel that everyone is still feeling the loss. I mean, Kathy never remarried, so I guess she still has a place for him somewhere in her heart. I would think, no matter who you were, being with Freddie would be a hard act to follow, he was just that dynamic a person.

Excellent job on the wallpaper. I know Freddie & Kathy were estranged at the time of his death but I wonder if she still loves him. They made her out to be the grieving widow so I just wondered about that. Glad she & everyone else were tributing him...

That is a good question. I imagine that Freddie Sr and Katheryn had there differences. But deep down inside there hearts had to have a yearning for each other. Freddie Jr was a gift from there love even though there relationship had taken a different turn of events. Seeing the pictures shows me that deep down inside Katheryn really did care for Freddie. I just can't imagine being in her shoes during the time of the ceremony. I would be flashing back things Freddie and I ( If I were katheryn) had done together. I would of been a wreck!

I've been wondering how she could've possibly wanted to divorce him as hot looking as he was. I couldn't have ever wanted to divorce a hottie like that. I'm just glad she still cares & that the baby cares. Freddie is smiling down from heaven knowing people still care... :)
