Classic TV Fanatic.... I'm not sure if some series are prefered above others, but I HIGHLY recommend TDVDS. Especially Seasons 2 and 3.

A great show (as you know).... and even better on DVD.
It's a little pricy, but well worth it.

Why spend $20 on a movie thats 1 and a half hour long when you can spend $50 and get 10 and a half!!

At the moment, I would love to acquire the whole Dick Van Dyke series on DVD, afterall, it's one great show. However, I am not willing to spend 50 dollars over a season set that has 32 episodes. You see, I have policy when it comes to TV DVD spending: one dollar or less per episode ... unfortunitley, the sets of TDVDS do not fall under that policy. With that said, I would rather soon wait til the price drops and then buy it but until then ... I will have to just settle with those "public domain" episodes of TDVDS.

But would you spend $20, or even $15 on a movie??

And just a warning.... price drops aren't common with TVDVDs.
Especially with something as special-extra-heavy as TDVDS.

I know but I'm hoping as time goes by... the price will eventually go down some. I think they should come out with a multiseason set deal for TDVDS such as this: 100 bucks [or less] for all five season sets. Now, I would definitely go for that.

You could always eBay, Amazon or DeepDiscountDVD the TV DVD's you want. :D


Oh, that reminds me, Tim...Are the TDVDS sets captioned? I can't remember if they were...And half the time, online retailers give me the wrong info. :(

They dont have subtitles, but they may be captioned.

In Target on a lunch break today, I was looking over their tv dvd section, tempted to get Land of the Lost and the Spiderman '67 Collection. LOTL is in 3 slim cases, looked like a nice package. The worst thing I could do is pick up a set, look at it and hold it in my hands, because I wouldn't want to put it back down. I can be very impulsive when I get near those things. At least I have Starsky & Hutch, Mary Tyler Moore and All In The Family season 2 in the mail to look forward to, plus Good Times season 3 this Tuesday. Soon I'll be getting All In The Family season 1 to complete the (so far) set.

if you plan to get South Park season 1, do so asap while Warner Bros. editions are still on the shelf.

Paramount bought the rights to all Comedy Central titles and recently re-released seasons 1 and 2 of SP. However, Warner had a $39.99 list on season 1 (which was 13 episodes, latter seasons were 15-18), but Paramount wants $49.99 for the same title. So if you wanna get it, get the Warner one before it's gone for good.

Paramount bought the rights to all Comedy Central titles and recently re-released seasons 1 and 2 of SP. However, Warner had a $39.99 list on season 1 (which was 13 episodes, latter seasons were 15-18), but Paramount wants $49.99 for the same title. So if you wanna get it, get the Warner one before it's gone for good.

I don't know how heavy you are into the Honeymooners, but I'd say you won't go wrong picking that one up. Even though I've seen all those episodes on tv a million times, I found myself laughing out loud watching the episodes on dvd, as if they were all new. Very funny show.

I hope to get it soon, I really enjoyed the TVLand marathon after Art Carney died. One of the best shows of the 50s.

My list has gotten shorter.... but not because Ive gotten more, but I realized that some shows I wanted are more a matter of time than money.
Im not sure if that makes sense.... but the time I take to watch the DVDs is just as valuable as the money I use to buy them. So now while buying series, I'll be much more selective.

I understand what you mean. It's the same way for me. You're getting so much stuff that it's almost hard to appreciate it all because there's just so much that you want to get into.

I always skipped over the mash sets in stores..now that I have season 6, I have to go out and get the first 5 seasons..:cool:

I remember all those countless nights my sis and I would watch Seinfeld before we fell asleep...We always chuckled at least once during the ep.

I don't remember if I saw the finale or not...But I do remember the hype surrounding the series finale. I was just finishing up 7th grade at the time.

I'm in the middle of watching the weekend edition of Access Hollywood. They're doing an hourlong look at 70's tv. Now I really want to get Happy Days and Laverne & Shirley in addition to Sanford & Son and the second seasons of Charlie's Angels and Starsky & Hutch. I don't think they'll sway me to want Dukes of Hazzard though. Most of the shows they're focusing on have dvd releases (Good Times, All In The Family, Mork & Mindy, Dallas). Pretty decent special.

S&H isn't so bad. The show just went off. Surprising they didn't focus on Three's Company or Taxi. The only mention made of those two shows was when they listed ABC's Tuesday lineup (I forget what year they said the schedule was from.)

I have been waiting for the prices to go down forever!

I still want Sanford & Son season 4.

I can't find it anywhere.

1. First off, I need to buy the first two seasons of The Golden Girls again. Because when I was up in Edmonton I was watching them in the car and the packaging on the front just got a whole bunch of dings on them. It looks like someone took a hammer and just smashed it. I don't know how that happened, really. Maybe one of my brothers dropped it on the ground or something. I usually keep my DVDS in mint condition.

2. The last two seasons of The Brady Bunch. I keep putting these off. I also need to take back the first season because the second disc won't work.

3. I need to pick up Seasons 3 and 4 of Married... with Children. I got the first two seasons at a buy one, get one free sale at Future Shop.

4. I also need to pick up the third season of Murder, She Wrote. I own the first two seasons.

5. Seasons Two and Three of The Bob Newhart Show.

6. Seasons One and Three of Boy Meets World. I picked up the second season at Wal-Mart in October for around $25 canadian. I was going to get the first but the only copy they had left was in pretty bad condition.

7. I am slowly picking up the remaining seasons of The Dukes of Hazzard. I own the first two seasons.

8. Gilligan's Island: The Complete Third Season... I keep putting this one off. I picked up Season Two in November 2005 and Season One in September 2005.

9. I own In Living Color: Season Three. I still need to pick up the other four seasons. I got Season Three as a Christmas gift.

10. Leave It to Beaver: The Complete Second Season I will pick up over the Summer holidays.

I agree! I want that show too, although I hated the "Am I gay?" dilema by Secor's character during the last season.
