"From the mouths of babes."

Maybe this is a stupid question but what on earth is that supposed to mean? Does anyone know? Because someone was telling me a story today and she said that and I was just like "What?" Does it even mean anything at all?

It means that young children speak their minds. They haven't quite learned what's socially inappropriate yet. If a person is fat, they look them in the eye and say, "You're fat". Kids will point out a pimple, stuff like that...with no malice. They just don't know any better yet.

I know a few adults like this, lol.

Out of the mouths of babes comes the truth.

My sister will repeat anything my mom has said about my friends right to them. And she doesn't care if it's mean or nice or whatever.

Little sisters are a curse.

There's an old story in my husband's family. His sister was dating this guy for a few months. At a large family gathering, one of the youngsters in the group speaks up in a loud voice to the guy and said, "Are you going to marry my aunt or what?"

He married her. Their oldest just graduated from college.
