View Full Version : Are you a good cook?

I'm a very good cook if I may say so myself. I cook Italian food the best....eggplant parmigiana, lasagne, meatballs, chicken or shrimp cacciatore, chicken with broccoli & ziti, fettucine alfredo.

I'm good with fish too. I make good baked stuffed shrimp or lobster tails with crabmeat stuffing.

My twice baked potatoes are to die for.

I'm not into baking though. I go to a top-notch bakery for those goodies.

What do you cook the best?

I make great microwave popcorn. Also, my ramen is to die for!

Nothing! or rather very little! I buy mostly from microwave to table food which is convenient when you have little kids or are too tired to cook. Once in a blue moon I cook a 'special meal'. I'm good at baking cakes; I haven't burned one yet.

But I make some REALLY great homemade desserts! (not the storebrought kind!) Everybody raves over my brownies on the rare occasion I make them. :D

Im good at baking, but it only comes out good the first time. For nail school, I made a chocolate raspberry cheesecake that was soooo good. Every time after I made it, something always went wrong. I made a really good eggnog bundt cake too. My fav. to make that always come out good is my double chocolate cookies with chocolate chips and dried cranberries. I got the recipe off the back of the Craisins bag and theyre awesome. Other than that, anything else I cook is like, mac & cheese. But even that I cheat- hell I buy ez mac now.

Top-notch. It's all in my dialing technique.

I don't cook very often. My mom still cooks for me, haha. She sounds a lot like you Janice... she makes some of the things you mentioned. I'm a very picky eater so it's a good thing I ended up with a mom who can cook as perfectly as she does. My dad's actually a very good cook too, but he rarely does it.

What do I cook the best? Well, that's hard to say since I haven't tried much. I just fry/deep fry stuff and rarely I'll make desserts.

I can make cheddar cheese sauce for broccoli or cauliflower and
I can make pasta with parmesan chesse and olive oil or pasta
alfredo(with the white sauce but parmesan instead of cheddar),
as well as pinto or red beans with rice. I also make a salad of
green pepper, tomatoes, cheese and ranch dressing.

My family has given me plenty of great compliments on my cooking, but I just don't cook often enough.

I'm no Chef Boyardee, but I do allright.

I do have some cookbooks and recipes I've saved over the years, and if the box comes with directions, I'm pretty sure I can whip up a meal without burning the building down or giving myself food poisoning.

;)

My sister was the same way. She didn't enjoy cooking, so her cooking wasn't that great. It stands to reason that a person won't excel at something they don't like doing it.

Ramen (rah-men): A noodle phenomenon. Ramen has become the accepted standard college snack/meal food of choice. Whether you are tired of cafeteria food, or you need a quick snack, Ramen is the perfect food. It is cheap, easy to make, and it tastes good.

AKA, I don't think I even knew what ramen was til you mentioned it. Anyway, i'm so inexperienced at cooking, I doubt I could ever cook that well.

*laughs* Me? Cook? Heh...obviously you haven't tried my cookies that I added a tablespoon of salt to instead of a teaspoon.

I have gotten better though. My dad has become obsessed with cooking shows, esp. Emeril and every Sunday he "Bams!", which basically means he cooks a big dinner and I help him from time to time and I've gotten much better.

If it doesn't come in a box or in a can, than I have no idea how to make it.

LMAO! It's funny because my mom and I both have the same attitude about cooking. My father cooks for the family, without him we would be eating Spaghetti- O's everyday.

"Cooking" for me usually only involves either a microwave, toaster, or toaster oven, haha. I can however make spaghetti, macaroni and cheese, brownies, cookies, and cake. That's pretty much it though.

I once added 1/4 CUP of SALT instead of 1/4 TEASPOON, when I was making brownies. That was like 6 years ago though

Let's see. I can make any breakfast food (at least the basic stuff), a cake, frosting, popcorn, RAMEN, Hot Pockets.... microwavable stuff. Hah.

I was at Jacki's once and she was like, "Let's make popcorn!" so she stuck the entire box in the microwave. I said, "Jacki, you need to take it OUT of the box." She did. Left it plastic wrapped.

I ended up making it.

Few years ago I wanted to melt some butter, and it was one of the ones you get in a restaurant. Hah.. it was wrapped in a foil, so it started popping. Then there was the time I put a pizza in the oven for me and my Dad, and I didnt know there was cardboard underneath to keep it flat.:o

I can make omellettes. I usually put veleveeta cheese, peices of broccoli, and onion in with the eggs. It's really good.

Also I can make soup. aS long as it's been premade and comes in a packet or a can. Usually I microwave it.

I can also make mashed potatoes.

And, I can also make toast, herbal tea, chocloate milk using nestle quik.

I think that's about it. I'm not a great cook, but it's a start.

The only thing I "make" is Sweet Tea. Oh my gosh... so good. :D

Everything else I cook personally is either microwavable or occasionally something in the oven. But I get all freakish when something is in there.
