"it only hurts when i banter"

an old man wants to die. and finds a way to frame david for his death. dave goes on the run...but only after he and maddie kiss in the parking garage.
maddie figures out that the old guy could walk and committed suicide so dave got out of the blame.
a very good episode just for the fact that it showed that maddie's character is good enough to solve a crime on her own.

rating: 7

Ah...one of my all-time favorite episodes with one of my all-time favorite scenes. :biglove: I remember that kiss in the parking garage clear as day, and it's been forever since I've seen this one. Great, great.

yeah, with that kiss, you can say it was a turning point for the show. as well as the direction of the characters.

Definitely.

Isn't this the episode where Maddie puts the ad in the paper to let Dave know that he can come home or something? I just remember that everything about this episode was done well.

Yes, near the end of the episode Maddie places a personal ad in newspapers across the country to let David know that the case is solved and for him to come home....

There are some great scenes in this episode.... how about the one in the parking garage, and the funny opening scene, and the huge argument in Maddie's office over whether they should take the case or not, and the dramatic scene in Maddie's bedroom.... all just terrific to watch.

i loved the argument with dave in his t-shirt and heart coloured underwear with his face all lathered up in shaving foam.
the bedroom scenes were great. especially when he covers her mouth and she is not afraid of him. that shows the depth of trust in the two. already.

Oh! I also love this episode... GREAT one!! Besides the scene with the kiss, my favorite of course, (M:"Come here, stupid" remember????), I just adored the one in her bedroom, when he comes and he's crying... And he goes to her, because she's the only person that he trusts in, and he starts saying "Maddie, I know that you didn't want to be part of this..." "I know you said..." bla, bla, bla... And while doing this, Maddie keeps saying "What happend??? Can you just tell me what happend???" She doesn't give a damn about what she said, she just wants Dave to tell her, she's worried and you can see really concern in her eyes... And Bruce's acting in that scene... was splendid... very touching...

And do you remember the end? Well, almost the end, when he indeed comes back and goes directly to Maddie's room again, remember what he said??? That he came back because "being in the underground wasn't that easy", that he actually had run out of money... hahahhahaha And remember what she does?? She's so happy to si him that the only thing she can say is "Oh! David" and she throws herself in her arms and they both fall down to the floor... hehehehe

Another great moment, as you said, was the one with his "underwear"... When he walks out of his office and everybody is looking at him open-mouthed and he says "Nobody says a word!" hahahahaha Great, great, great episode!!

Those are two extremely well-acted scenes you got there. The first one is really touching, the last one where they fall on the floor is priceless. :p

You really can't miss this dialogue... just... splendid!!

D: (He's grabing her mouth so she can't say anything) "Ok, all right, I admit it, I ran into some trouble. Going underground is not as easy as I tought it was gonna be. I mean, it's not like you can ask anybody directions..." (Then he starts telling her the weirdest things... I mean, about what he did while being "in the underground". And then... he says he took a train and that the train stop and...) "Vegas... I'm broked, Maddie" (After that he leaves her mouth and says) "Say something!, Will you?"

M: "Oh, David!" (then they both fall to the floor)

D: "Does that mean you'll give me the money?" (hahaha)

My knees buckle slightly (like Cybill's) when I think of that kiss in the garage.

"C'mere stupid."

i so much wanted to discuss this episode that i made my date come back and watch it with me so he could tell me what he thought.

the discussion on euthanasia was a real surprise, even for moonlighting. i thought they were both right. that seems to be something that moonlighting does very well, present both sides of a debate, yet neither david or maddie 'wins'. this makes both characters sympathetic. my date pointed out that when david was driving up to the hospital where the old man was, to provide a witness for the old man's death 'sympathy for the devil' by the rolling stones was the background music.

maddie solved her first case alone. wonderful.

the kiss in the garage. this kiss was wonderful. it didn't seem acted at all. and my date said that after maddie and david had decided that the kiss 'didn't happen' and were saying goodbye-david was tasting his lips.

i wanted to know, if david had wanted to start a relationship with maddie. for some reason this seems vital to me. and my date said yes. that david was very happy talking about the kiss in the garage, until maddie said that she hadn't wanted to talk about the garage. then, the light went out of davids eyes.
my opinion is that maddie had wanted to start something with david.
about the ending, i'm crushed!

i watch moonlighting whenever and take notes, and then come online when i can i write what my notes say,and i i have one more episode that i saw, so i'll be right back.

Marla, you mentioned the ending.

I love the looks on both of their faces.... each has feelings of regret, and a rememberance of the pleasure....but maybe even a hint of anticipation of future opportunities. A person watching feels sad but hopeful in a way--I guess much like the two characters feel.

Yes, thanks Marla, really good comments. I noticed David tasting his lips, for the first time when watching the other day! Wonderful stuff. *Sigh*

Two of my favorite moments in Moonlighting:

David tasting his lips, and Maddie saying "Well, then GO" -- I just love the look on her face. It truly didn't seem like acting, did it? That entire scene was the best. They both did such a great job. I have mentioned this before, but I love the way Maddie (Cybill) seems to have her knees buckle when they kiss - she almost swoons.

The truth is I thought that their (real life) date happened at this time. I was quite surprised when we recently found out it happened two weeks into filming. Wait a minute, I'm NOT surprised.:D ;)

I wish they had continued their Off Screen relationship:o

Hmmm, I wonder what we where talking about if that had happened LOL:D

Wow, what an episode

I waited nearly 20 years to watch it (that makes me feel really old to write that) but it was worth the wait :D . And who wouldn't swoon with a kiss like that ;)

Out of all the episodes (I read the episode guides for every single episode after I'd seen about 3 of them and realised that I'd fallen in love with this programme ;)), this is the one that I wanted to see the most. Except I can hardly remember it now :(

Well, I do remember the kiss because I've seen that scene a few times since then (thanks to davidandmaddie.com :D) and it was just as good as I'd hoped it would be. I loved the two scenes in Maddie's room as well.

My concern is the security in Maddie's house . . . David manages to break in without waking Maddie up. Twice. Didn't this occur to her and spur her to get some kind of burglar alarm?!

oh wow....it never occurred to me that someone might watch scene clips on my site first before they had ever seen an episode.... and now I feel bad about it...that makes me a spoiler or something.

I guess I just always assumed that someone who was a fan would come to my site after having seen the episodes...but maybe I need to rethink this. I apologize Emma to you if I spoiled the scene for you in anyway.

I mostly posted the scenes as part of discussions on my site...because as things were, to talk about a scene that someone might not be able to see since the show wasn't readily available on VHS or DVD made me want to show the scene.

Incidentally, I am seriously debating removing the actual scene clips from my site once the DVD's get released (give or take one or two). However, the extras, interviews, ads etc etc not part of the episodes...those I plan on keeping up and adding to.

Well, Cindy, I never saw Big Man before I watched the clip of the dance-scene.

I still thank you for posting it, because I wasn't sure if I ever got to see ANY part of the episode. Thanks to Taz I have it on vcd:D :D :D

Those clips are great!

No Cindy, don't feel like a spoiler - I meant that I watched the scene on your site after seeing it in the episode because I'd forgotten what it was like!

So you didn't spoil it at all! And even if I had spoiled it by watching it on your site first, that would have been my fault for watching it, now wouldn't it?!
