Have fun but holy hell is it hot in Florida this time of the year. I was there last year, in Disneyworld, over the 4th of July. I'll go in winter next time (if ever). 110 degress in the sweltering sun isn't my idea of fun, even if it WAS in Disneyworld.

Welcome to Florida Brett, LOL.

It's not too bad in the summer right now, about 90 a day but it still is a very hot 90, LOL.

I went to Islands of Adventures about two years ago and got totally burnt. Stupid me forgot sunscreen. I'm not too pale, but I still got burnt to a crisp.

I've lived in Florida all of my life and have never even HEARD of Ft. Walton. Weird. Where exactly in Florida is it located?

Be careful of bad burns. My husband's former wife sunbathed all her life, and recently died of malignant melanoma. She was very young, and it was very sad.

Wow, that's very sad.

I'm usually very careful (as careful as you can be) but for some reason, it just never registered in me that day.

Well, we got back a few hours ago. It was GREAT. It did rain a lot(over 4 inches), but it was fun nonetheless. Me, being the weather freak I am, enjoyed the squally weather. There were red flags on the beach almost the whole time, HUGE waves. I have never seen the Gulf so angry before. Monday was the worst day when it rained basically all day with only a few short breaks. A really bad squall came through around Daybreak Tuesday and caused some minor wind damage and caused the waves to come way up on shore and wash away a table with umbrella and chairs. After that, yesterday was pretty good. The sun came out by noon and it was perfect the rest of the day(except for a brief shower about mid-afternoon). Last night there was a TREMONDOUSLY AWFUL amount of seaweed. It had washed up on shore and was all in the water. That was the only really bad part about the trip.

We left about 8am this morning(Central time) and went to Pensacola. On the way we stopped by a beach where Hurricane Opal in 1995 hit and then went to Pensacola Beach and across the Bay bridge(about 5 miles, really awesome). We then went to the Naval Aviation Museum at Pensacola NAS and then came back home after lunch.

Haha good idea...I went to Disney World in January of 1990...Florida had perfect weather when we went...Only rained one day the whole time we were there (I think my family went for a week).

It's in the Panhandle between Pensacola and Panama City, right next to Destin. :)

Used to live there for nine years but only want to visit and not live there now. Back in the 1980's but boy times have changed.

I just got back from Ft. Walton Beach, Florida early this morning, Brent. Were the waves on the beach as huge as they were when you went? These things were awesome.

They were huge when we went. Red flags were out three days we were there. We had a strong tropical wave(almost became a tropical storm) in the Gulf while we were down there. I heard that a boat capsized off Destin(near Fort Walton) on Thursday and they had to CLOSE the water down.
