In the early days of the talk show explosion, anyone with a recognizable name could get their own talk show if it could be aired: Gabrielle Carteris (90210), Carnie Wilson (Wilson-Phillips), John Tesh ("Entertainment Tonight"), etc. Tempestt's show was n the vein of Ricki Lake in that it catered to a younger crowd and topics like "Caught cheating", "Fashion disasters", etc. It may not have been the best, but hey at least she tried.
