View Full Version : Cheers' Greatest Musical Moments
Chambers 06-07-2004, 10:53 AM There have been several moments when characters break into song on the show.
My favorites:
Who could forget the teaser for "Diane Chambers Day"? The gang do a wonderful rendition of the "Magnificent Seven" theme. That has got to be one of my all time favorite scenes from the show.
"Father Knows Last" (from season one) ends with the whole bar breaking into song as they march behind Carla, who's holding a jar full of money for her new baby. So moving and yet so funny. (Anyone know the name of that song, by the way?)
"Dinner at Eightish." You guessed it: Lilith and Frasier singing "Our House" and stopping when Diane joins in. Perfection.
Brian Damage 06-07-2004, 11:00 AM Frasier getting carried away with the Karaoke machine. Priceless.
tiff7 06-07-2004, 11:25 AM The 1 where the gang sings "We Will Rock You". Doesn't Lilith sing on the karoake machine too? :)There is a black & white pic of Coach, Sammy, Carla, Diane, Cliff & Norm are all singing. Let's post sum pics of the gang singin!

Yes, Frasier and Lilith on the karaoke machine was the greatest musical moment to me.
But Lilith and Frasier singing "Our House" was good too.
I also really liked the moment when Rebecca started singing "We've got tonight, who's needs tomorrow" or whatever the song's name is on the episode before her and Robin's almost wedding.

Agreed, but in reverse order. "Dinner at 8ish" is definitely one of my top three episodes b/c it's the only one in which Diane and Lilith really interact and they're my faves.
Chambers 06-07-2004, 03:13 PM that song in "father knows last" is "you'll never walk alone" - rodgers and hammerstein.
ria - "dinner at eightish" and "abnormal psychology" were the only episodes i can think of in which diane and lilith engaged in some sort of substantial dialogue. i always wonder how things would have been between diane and lilith had diane stayed. they're my two favorites too.

The karaoke machine was definately my favorite.
(Norm and Cliff singing Lollypop)
Cliff: Hey Normie how does this song end, anyways?
Norm: I'm not sure... I think we keep going until one of us drops.
CheersChild4life 06-07-2004, 04:33 PM Norm and Cliff on the karaoke machine. Pure greatness!
Moondance 06-07-2004, 05:55 PM I love "Dinner At Eightish" and them singing "Our House!!"
But there's another song I liked that played recently, "Veggie Boyd!" Frasier had hypnotized Lilith at a party, and when anyone said, "tractor," Lilith would get up and sing, "Tomorrow!" Hahahaha!!!
Also the episode where Lilith and Frasier go to this cabin for solitude and Frasier says, "Lilith, sing a work song." Lilith, "I don't know any work songs." So Frasier says for her to sing something, so she sings "Funny Valentine!" LOL

barwars 06-07-2004, 09:06 PM "Lollipop, lollipop, ohh lolli, lollipop!!"
haha
I liked all the singing moments.... but my absolute favorite is "Our House" on Dinner at Eight-ish.
Wait no....
"Tickle your tummy, cause life is kind of funny. Tickle your tummy.... and laugh a lot!!"
"The first time, ever I lay with you"
hahaha
Nanny G might just be the greatest one-shot (eventually 3 shot) character ever.
Teddy02 06-08-2004, 07:17 AM well "dinner at eightish" is my favorite but i also thought it was funny when carla was singing "i got the sun in the morning and the moon at night" lol what episode was that?
BebeLilithFan154 06-08-2004, 08:11 AM LOL!
I have no idea but I remember that was a teaser and it was soooo funny! haha...
Random one I just thought of (which I think is a teaser): When the whole bar starts singing over the phone to help Carla's baby fall asleep and then when it works, they cheer (and undoubtedly wake her up).
Chambers 06-08-2004, 10:56 AM I've been watching my season one DVDs, so I came across another one. In "One for the Book," that old soldier is all depressed that his friends haven't shown up for their reunion, so the gang try to cheer him up by saying he should have reunions with them instead – and every year instead or every ten years. So they all sing "Parlez-vous" TERRIBLY - nobody knows the words. Then the soldier frowns and says, "....Every ten years will be fine."
Not my favorite, but still great!
Moondance 06-08-2004, 05:50 PM How could I forget the "Kelly Song?" http://img11.photobucket.com/albums/v34/TroyandLindseyFan/desperado.gif I was singing it last night, too!
Kelly my darling, you are my sunshine;
When we're together I feel fine.
Your smile is so lovely; your hair is so clean;
You make me feel that the whole world is mine.
Kelly, Kelly, Kelly, Kelly, Kelly, Kelly, Kelly, Kelly,
Kelly, Kelly, Kelly, Kelly, K-E-L-L-Y ...
Why? Because you're
Kelly, Kelly, Kelly, Kelly, Kelly, Kelly, Kelly,
(pause) Kelly, Kelly, Kelly, Kelly, Kelly, Kelly,
Kelly of mine!
Mine, Mine, Mine, Mine, Mine, Mine, Mine, Mine,
Mine, Mine, Mine, Mine, Mine, Mine, Mine, Mine,
... Mine!

Moondance 06-09-2004, 03:36 PM Oh! I got another one!
Cliff singing "Misty" to Diane...I'm sorry, but Shelley Long's facial expression is priceless!! HAHAHAHA!!!!

calvertfan 06-11-2004, 04:05 AM I haven't seen enough episodes but my faves are definitely 'My Funny Valentine' and the Kelly song :D
david&maddie4ever 06-11-2004, 10:42 PM Definitely the karaoke thing. That was great...especially when Lilith cuts in on Frasier.
calvertfan 06-12-2004, 07:56 AM Boy I wish I'd seen that karaoke episode :)
cjnoles9399 06-20-2004, 01:15 AM The song by the children's singer who gives her phone number to Frasier in the song is a funny one. Also Harry Connick probably sang the best music on the show when he was Woody's friend.
Pirate Jenny 06-20-2004, 11:35 PM i'd have to say Lilith and Sam singing "tickle your tummy, life is kinda yummy, when you're feeling crummy just look up and laugh a lot!" at the beginning of "One Hugs, The Other Doesn't" is my favorite, for one reason.
The look on the face of the little boy who played Frederick then is hysterical. It's kind of a mix of disgusted wonder, and he just turns his face around and looks at Bebe like: "What the hell is wrong with you, lady? Get your hands off my stomach!"
:rotflmao:
gets me everytime.
you gotta feel sorry for that kid...

I always feel sorry for really little kids on tv shows because they're probably doing it against their will. Their parents will probably take their money. And they're probably gunna be made fun of for it when they're in Junoir High.

Yes, I agree...unless they happen to be twins who own their own billion-dollar company. Then I'll feel anything BUT sorry.
I forgot there were musical moments in the Nanny G episode. I love that one!
PZelda 06-21-2004, 04:18 PM Not really a musical moment - but I LOVED it when Carla would start singing every time something bad happened to Diane!

Oh my favorite one of those is when Carla finds faith in God again after Diane tells everybody she's going to Europe with Frasier. Carla gets down on her knees and sings that spiritual song. It's great!

Hahahaha! I love the "Tickle Your Tummy" song! I was singing it yesterday - driving everyone nuts!
I loved when Nanny G was singing that special song to FRASIER and Lilith was like, "That's it! Leave my man alone!" HAHAHA then Nanny G says that she's still in love with Frasier, thus causing Lilith to have to jump on her back and wrestle that WOMAN to the ground!!! Bwahahahaha!
