Can't they release them any quicker? Season Eight is expected to be released in November. That will be eight months since season seven was released. That is insane! They were realeasing the seasons every three or four months and now they are releasing them every eight or nine months? It is so stupid- just release the rest of the seasons (eight, nine, and ten) now so we can complete our Friends DVD collections. I mean, right now Friends is like still a hot topic of conversation and people will buy the episodes, so what are they waiting for?

This is especially annoying for me because most of my favorite episodes are in the last three seasons. Like TOW The Baby Shower, TOW Rachel's Other Sister, TOW The Lottery Tickets, TOW The Stain, TO After Joey and Rachel Kiss, TOW Rachel has a Baby, etc.

Season Nine is one of my favorites and at this rate I am going to have to wait a year before it's released!

I think the reason they're holding off on Season 8 has to do with the release of the finale. I think the finale was released in the usual season set spot and to avoid over-saturating the market with new Friends memorabilia (remember the show suffered a major backlash during its 2nd season), they've chosen to hold off a bit. This way the public isn't as turned off by all the hype and demand will grow for more season sets, which it surely has judging from your response.

Mind you, this is just speculation, but I think this is why there's such a delay. I don't think the following seasons will be released as slowly, unless it's to provide some cool extras for the sets.

We shall see...

can someone please explain what the backlash in season 2 was about? I watched Friends back then, but yet I don;t remember a specific moment where suddenly Friends was unpopular. What happened exactly? I know Friends in season 3 and 4 wasn't quite as popular as it was in season 2, but I kinda saw that as the fact that Friends was the "new hot show on television", while by seasons 3-4, it was an established hit. Kinda like how a show like 90210 performed well on Fox for it's entire run, but it never reached the fever-pitch hype it had in season 2 again.
