*gasps* Whoa!
That's not new to me, because this one lady who works at my Mom's store
was a sister or 14 other siblings...but sadly, her Mom died before she could have more kids, but she wanted more kids!

I think that if they really love kids and have the money and resources to take care of them, then they can go ahead and have as many children as God allows.

That's crazy!! If she wants more kids, so bad, try adopting, instead of over-populating an already over-populated world!!! There are millions of kids who would absolutely love a real home.

Do you realize that this woman, in 21 years, as been pregnant 90% of the time? I don't know how she could stand it. I've heard of women complaining that even after 9 months pregnant with their 1st child--get this kid out of me!

I would think by now, this lady won't need an epidural!!

What is she trying to do? Get in the Guinness Book of World Records?

Back in the old days having 15 kids wasn't that uncommon, but now

I think some people do it just for the publicity.

Yeah. My grandfather's mom had seven kids and my grandma's mom had about nine I think. That was in the 1920s.

For a person to have 15 kids NOW, in the 00s and want MORE seems beyond a tad ridiculous.

I soooo agree with you, there are way too many children out there who need homes.

That's true. It was pretty common for a family to have 10-15 kids in the first half of the 1900's, because medicine and technology weren't as advanced back then, and morality was higher (I hope I'm using the correct word). It was also pretty common for a mom to give birth to a baby that also died on the same day. It happened w/ both of my grandparents. My paternal grandma gave birth to two different daughters that died the same day they were born - that was in the early 1950's, around the time of the baby boom. My maternal grandma gave birth to her first-ever child that died three days after birth. :( People would get sick and then die young, as well. My paternal grandma ended up having 7 (would've been 9) kids altogether- all 7 are still alive. My maternal grandma ended up having 4 kids- all alive, too.

Now the medicines and technology we have is a TON better today, so we don't need to have so many kids to make up for it. :)

Yeah, the subject of birth control probably wasn't even discussed back then, even among married couples. The pill certainly wasn't around, and I'm pretty sure that other birth control devices weren't around either. I think it was commonplace for the woman to have the babies, no matter how many, and they didn't really have any say in the matter.

According to the Guinness Book of World Records, the most children born to one mother is 69. Between 1725 and 1765 she had: 16 pairs of twins, 7 sets of triplets, and 4 sets of quads.

It was also pretty common for a mom to give birth to a baby that also died on the same day. Yeah my grandfather's mother gave birth to a still born baby boy and also had another child that died. The other child was born without any intestines but did actually live for a few weeks before dying.

While I think its good that if you want tons and tons of babies, you should adopt to make a born child happy, its the womans right to decide how many children she wants to have. This lady is popping them out like its going out of style! But from what I understand, they seem to be making pretty good money so they can afford it. If they were practically living on the streets Id be against it, because that would be taking away from the other childrens needs to be healthy. Maybe she has a need to be pregnant which is why shes constantly having children?

I only have one sibling, a younger sister. My dad has 2 younger brothers. My mom was the middle child of three(older half-sister(same mother, different father), younger brother. My grandpa was one of EIGHT. I can't imagine having more than 1 or 2 other siblings, especially having 14!

Just imagine the medical bills.

I read about that the other day. I couldn't believe someone has that many kids in this day and time!!!! My great-grandma had 15 kids, so I have quite a large family! She had her last baby when she was 44! She just kept having kids up until menopause

 I thought my sister having 8 children was alot

Doesn't she realize that the more children she has the weaker it makes her insides? She's at higher risk for cancer, and after so long your womb is stretched so much, you might as well not even have one

It is my personal opinion that this is an act of pure selfishness. I watched the show about this family when it first aired back when and I was appalled....If you want that many children running around your home then help some homeless/parentless child in this world, Lord knows there are plenty out there that would love to be loved.

If you look close at their "buddy system" you will see the older kids are raising the younger kids.... how fair is that to any of them. How many of those kids actually got to bond one on one with their parents? Seems to me they get to bond until the next pregnancy and then off to the "buddy system." One good thing that will come of this is that the older ones will most likely never want kids of their own. Why is it so hard NOT to see (as an ex state representative) the over population problem crisis we are already in.

And you can bet they are making a pile of money with all of these cameras in their faces. Disgusting!!

Yes it was a common thing in the old days to have a big family. My husband's dad came from a family of 11 kids and my own Mom had 7. In the old days the more kids the better, especially if they had a farm to run. But in another way in those days that was all a woman had was her family. It was a big big deal. I am all for having kids. If one can take care of them! I came from a large family(7 kids) and I am so grateful for all of my brothers and sisters(at least most of them!) Big families are a blessing IMO.:happyface

Arkansas woman has 15th child
Father says mother might want to have even more

Updated: 3:44 p.m. ET May 25, 2004FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Michelle Duggar is all smiles after delivering her 15th child, but she may be ready for more, her family says.

Mother and child were doing well, although Michelle, 37, was feeling some discomfort because the birth was her second by Caesarean section, said her mother-in-law, Mary Duggar.

“She’s a trouper. She’s just all smiles,” Mary Duggar said.

Jackson Levi Duggar was born at 10:52 a.m. Sunday, weighing 7 pounds 8 ounces and measuring 20 inches.

“She was wanting to do it naturally,” Mary Duggar said. But the delivery was by C-section because one of Jackson’s shoulders was presenting first.

“I call him Jumping Jack because he would go in a circle,” she said.

More on the way?
The baby’s father, former state legislator Jim Bob Duggar, sounded a bit tired but happy after returning home Monday. He said his wife and new son were doing fine. He said he leaves the decision up to Michelle on whether to have more children.

“I have always left it up to Michelle because she’s actually the one that carries them and does all the labor,” he said. “But we both love children. Even yesterday, she said she would like to have some more.”

Michelle probably will be in Washington Regional Medical Center for three or four days, said her mother-in-law, who is taking care of the 14 other children.

Michelle, who home schools her children and is helping to build the family’s new home in Tontitown from the ground up, started having her babies when she was 21, four years after she and Jim Bob married. Her 38-year-old husband is a real estate businessman.

Their children include two sets of twins, and the parents have stuck to the letter “J” for their names. There is Joshua, 16; Jana and John-David, 14; Jill, 13; Jessa, 11; Jinger, 10; Joseph, 9; Josiah, 7; Joy-Anna, 6; Jeremiah and Jedidiah, 5; Jason, 4; James, 2; and Justin, 1.

My God! Who would want that many kids?

:eek2: Thats way 2many kids.. lol i dont even want any She should Keep her legs closed once in a while then she wont have so many lol:lol: ( Sorry i had to say that). I wonder how she can afford all them Kids, probley welfare.... lol
