I'll never forget the episode where Woody and Esther split. He came over to the house and asked Grady for "a little shot of something". The funny part was his technique. Watch how he moves his mouth as Grady is pouring. After he drinks it, he uses his pinky to get a final taste. Sure sign of a drunk. He played his part well.

Remember that episode of "Sanford" where Cal asks Fred what happened to Esther's husband and Fred said "Oh Woody? He died and went to heaven. He had to go to heaven because he caught all the hell there was while he was here on earth!" LOL Cal busted out laughing. That was so funny the way Fred said it.

Woody never appeared on "Sanford", he was mentioned only one time on the episode where Fred finds out that he had been married to Esther the whole time instead of Elizabeth and he and Esther had to go to Freemont, Missouri to get a divorce. Cal asked about Woody and Fred said that Woody had passed awat. Woody had already died when "Sanford" came on.

I don't remember him on the Jeffersons but he was good at playing those drunks. Foster Brooks was good at it too!
