View Full Version : How long do we have to wait?
imaillusion 06-03-2004, 01:50 AM When will Chico and the Man be back on TVLAND?
I watched the show when I was a teen,we lost someone very special.
So if anyone knows,it would be appreciated.
Mr. Television 06-03-2004, 01:57 AM I've been waiting 26 years.
imaillusion 06-03-2004, 02:11 AM There was a 48 hour marathon of Chico and the Man on TVLAND in 2001.
Why was the show taken off TVLAND anyway??

I don't know. I didn't have tv land in 2001. The only episode I saw on it was the pilot show on one of the weekends. I wish it would come back now. TV Land seems to like to show other shows that have been seen on other channels. Chico And The Man was rarely seen in syndication.
imaillusion 06-03-2004, 02:21 AM Thanks for your reply Mr.Roper.I guess that I am out of luck on watching the show huh.:(
Cheryl Harrell 06-03-2004, 03:36 AM I was lucky enough to have TVLAND when the CATM re-runs aired. Sadly when CATM was about to go off, aTVLAND started scrambling & now I can't get them on my big dish anymore untill I can find adescrambler & pay for them. HYaven't been able to find a descrambler yet. I miss TVLAND & CATM. Welcome to the site folks. You will love hanging out her with those who love the show & Freddie. Everyone is so nice here & I made it one of my homes on the internet...
victorianscribe 06-03-2004, 05:41 AM I don't have an answer to your question, imallusion, but I got tears in my eyes when I read your post. We did lose someone so special when we lost Freddie. And we can only hope that his shows will re-broadcast again sometime very soon, or at least, released on DVD!
Cheryl Harrell 06-03-2004, 06:30 AM It didn't post all my message & I re-wrote it below. So I deleted it on here...

imaillusion 06-03-2004, 11:27 AM Hi,Victorianscribe and Cheryl Harrell:wave:
I appreciate your replies.
I am very fortunate that I found this message board.Freddie would be so proud of each person here. You are keeping his memory alive.I cry when I see the pictures and words that have been shared here.
I remember watching CATM from the day it started.I was a teenager.I would like to tell you that Freddie brought more than laughter to me.Freddie was a Hungarian-Puerto Rican.Freddie was someone that other than Robert Hedgyes,I had really not seen diverse men like that!Where I lived at the time,we had "countryboys "(no offence to countryboys;).I will have to say that us teenage girls where hoping and praying for a boy to come to our school that looked and talked like Freddie......We read up on ANYTHING to do with Puerto Ricans and their culture.
Well guess what,us little teenage girls never did meet anyone like that in our school.
Our hearts were not broken though because Freddie opened up our little girl hearts and eyes to the fact that we have so many cultures around us and just because we are not exposed to each and every culture in our life,we should it upon ourselfs to open our hearts and learn.
I am thankful for the show and what I was taught. Here I was a teenage girl and I had a little "funny feeling" in my stomach whenever I saw Freddie.I still get a "funny feeling"in my stomach when I look at the pictures people post here.
Only this time the "funny feeling"I have is the feeling of being grateful that we were loaned a man such as Freddie who taught me more than I knew I would learn from him.
victorianscribe 06-03-2004, 01:33 PM That is simply beautiful.
Prince 06-03-2004, 10:22 PM Thanks for the lovely words about Freddie Prinze. We here at the boards simply love him. The last time I saw the show except for that one episode was in 1978. I just never understood why the show wasn't widely syndicated. NBC used to air reruns of the show weekday mornings when it was still on the air. Just when I got TV Land Chico And The Man had already left the air. Hopefully one day it will return.
Prince 06-03-2004, 11:24 PM We're all hoping that CATM will return one day to TV Land. If they would air it during prime time...I think Freddie Prinze would be a big star all over again..because Chico just melts your heart and Freddie played the role so well. And the fact that Freddie and Jack Albertson shared such a special relationship on screen as well as off really help make the show. They had such magic when there were on the show together. Welcome to the boards..visit often.

Freddie would be so proud to know that there are people like all of you who keep his memory alive.I wish that I would have found all of you sooner.
Cheryl Harrell 06-04-2004, 02:57 AM You'll have to join all the YAHOO & MSN Groups on Freddie. It's nice to see more people coming on here & getting into him... I remember watching the CATM morning reruns in '77 after Freddie died. I think it came on at 12 noon... & That was when I liked the show but wasn't yet in love with Freddie. The TVLAND re-runs will be special to me cuz thru them I fell for Freddie & really got into the show...
you know there are other shows that were on TVland and taken off for a while, that are back on again, I dream of Jeanie, and with the flip wilson marathon coming up i wonder if that will be returning to TVland soon again too.
WHY NOT CATM:crybaby:
