View Full Version : What seasons did Cheers win "best comedy series"?? barwars 06-02-2004, 07:04 PM I know Season 9 was the fourth win, what were the other 3?? James"Thunder"Early 06-02-2004, 07:13 PM 1983, 1984 and 1989. I had to correct myself. CheersChild4life 06-02-2004, 07:30 PM If it were up to me it would have won every year! lol barwars 06-02-2004, 10:19 PM So it was "Outstanding Comedy Series" for Seasons 1,2,7, and 9. Brian Damage 06-03-2004, 10:21 AM It won the first year? CheersChild4life 06-03-2004, 10:41 AM Yeah, I thought it bombed their first year. Chambers 06-03-2004, 10:50 AM It bombed in the ratings, but the critics absolutely loved it from day one. I never thought I'd say this, but thank God for critics. James"Thunder"Early 06-03-2004, 10:54 AM Had Cheers not won that emmy in season one, NBC would have cancelled it and Cheers would have been some one season flop. so the emmys saved Cheers. Brian Damage 06-03-2004, 10:54 AM If Cheers started in this day and age, it never would last. The ratings that first season were pretty bad. Nowadays, networks see ratings like that and immediately pull the plug. They rarely let shows grow anymore. CliffClavin 06-03-2004, 01:23 PM Yeah they should give many new shows a chance to grow & wait until the ratings shoot up.You know like Cheers when The Cosby Show came on more people started watching Cheers .The Ben Stiller Show was cancelled after 12 episodes on Fox & then they won an emmy the reason they were cut is because they hardly had any viewers but fox was still in the begining stages too.Now they cancel shows after the first few episodes. |
