According to the online edition of The Indianapolis Star, there are plans to do another Dick Van Dyke Show reunion. This sounds like a reporter's wishful thinking to me. Mr. Denoff, Mr. Van Deusen, can you check with your sources and confirm or deny?

A Van Dyke re-reunion?

June 2, 2004

Dear R.K. Shull: We really enjoyed the Dick Van Dyke reunion show (CBS). It was great to see the characters again. How old are the Van Dyke brothers now? -- L.D.

Dear Reader: Dick is 78 and Jerry is 72. The show was such a success that plans are under way to do another.

He says it with such authority though. "Plans are under way to do another." I thought the ratings were good but not spectacular--I think it ranked #12 for the week, last November the Andy Griffith Show reunion was in the top five. But on the other hand it was on during a big sweeps week and the ratings were nothing to sneeze at. Having said all of this, I hope it is true, I would love to see another reunion special--and maybe one less about Alan Brady and more about the Petries--and filmed before a live studio audience. As I've said before the reunion special really grew on me with repeated viewings--I've viewed it three times and some of my initial disappointment was because I was comparing it too much to the old show and not on its own merits.

If anyone in Hollywood is reading this, I've got a great plot scenario worked out!
