Queen Latifah and Liza Snyder play Adrienne Wilson and Christine Olsen. Adrienne (Latifah) and Christine (Snyder) were college roommates and have been best friends ever since then. Adrienne lives with her sister and brother-in-law, Kelly and Michael (Kim Coles, Daman Wayans) with her niece and nephew: Michelle, 9, and Marshall, 7. Christine lives with her hubby, Scott (Matthew Perry) and their two kids: Bianca, 10, and Hannah, 7. Christine and Adrienne work together at a perfume counter in a store in Milwaukee. Scott and Christine's kids and Michael and Kelly's kids are good friends of each other. Kelly also works with Christine and Adrienne at the perfume counter. Michael and Scott at first didn't see eye-to-eye because of enocomic differences. Scott comes from the upper class side of Milwaukee as Michael came from the ghetto of Milwaukee. But now, Scott and Michael are good friends like their kids are, and their wives and Adrienne are.
