I been watching Maude most of the day and she appears to be a DRUNK to me-LOL So far in every ep i seen her in, she talks and walks like she was drinking. What are your Thoughts?

Yep, I agree, Mrs. Naugutuck is a lush.

In one episode she referred to her booze as "Afternoon Tea"

that's the episode in which Maude's mother was visiting.

I think it probably was, I can't remember a time when she was sober.

Makes you wonder why Maude would keep a maid around like that.

Yeah, I'm really surprised she was employed for so long. I don't think I would keep a drunk maid around.

What was the 3rd maid like? I hope she wasn't unusual like Mrs. Nagatuck

The 3rd maid was a black woman from the West Indies. Her name was Victoria Butterfield. She was okay.

Although, compared to Florida and Mrs. Naugutuck, she was normal, nothing exciting or funny about her.

Maude and Vivian met her on the subway.

What was Maude and Vivan doing on the subway? I thought they were lived outside of NYC.

They were in the city doing some shopping and they took the subway to Grand Central Station.

That doesn't make much sense either, Why not take a cab? I'm sure they could afford it and i'm sure it would've been safer.

 That's true, Although, I can picture her on the subway more than I can picture Vivian. Maude's a bit more brave.

Mrs. Naugatuck was the best and funniest maid Maude ever had. Florida was a distant second. :D

i agree that mrs. naugatuck was a hoot! as for why maude would keep such a lush on staff? check out the early episode where she hires florida evans-it is well established on that show that maude is such a pain TO her help that it's almost impossible for her to get ANYONE to stay.

plus, this is a sitcom and so all common sense and reality go out the window in exchange for comic value, which i think this woman delivered!

i found this series hard to take during its original run when i was very young but rediscovering it now, i'm having a good time-great ensemble work from a talented cast, eh?

She was okay, I preferred Florida though.
