I actually liked Budd (when they gave him lines.) I know he could never be a replacement for Lowell, but there were times when I laughed at Budd. I was a little disappointed when he didn't return after his few episode stint (especially since they didn't explain why he left.)
I remember one of the first episodes he was on when he was talking about his pet and, "He just couldn't pee!"

While I must admit that I found Bud funny at times (as long as I didn't try to compare him to Lowell), there was also something a little unsettling about him. I always had the feeling that Bud "wasn't quite right" in the head, and I found myself expecting him to "snap" some day and start shooting up the airport!

That would have been a clever way to write him out of the show. I could picture it, Budd starts shooting at the people, everyone gets scared, especially Joe and Brian. Helen decides to take action and beats up Budd while he stiil has a gun in his hand. LOL

I'll admit I found him funny a couple of times, but overall I wasn't too fond of him. He was too much like Lowell. I think it would have been better if they had brought on a totally different type of character as the mechanic, maybe a female who was a love interest for Antonio.
