the producers wanted a Roper Opposite. Mr. Furley told Larry, "there is nothing wrong with a tenant and Landlord being friends. You could tell from the Statement that the producers wanted a more friendly landlord. I guess the producers didn't realize that was what made Mr. Roper so fuuny. The fact that he refused to be buddy buddy with his tenants.lol

yeah I also thought it was a nice touch when they had his brother Bart be in charge of wanting the rent on time.

Yup the producers did everything they could to make the viewers forget Roper's style of being a landlord

Then again there were times when Mr. Furley kind of lost it, like when he wanted to throw the kids out for accidentally selling his furniture or for making too much noise.

When the kids accidently sold his furniture, that was his first episode
