How were Lamont's actions "gay"? Heterosexual people can do the right thing too. In all truth, the Social Security Admin would have eventually realized that Grady had been paid thrice. However, by the time that realization was made Grady would have blown all that loot. I am sure this one was written for Fred. If it was Fred, they could've lost the business over it. Aside from that, it was the right thing to do.

He was always trying to do the right thing which always made his character annoying.

They were probably making a point that all poor people are not opportunistic and looking to get over on the government. But they probably over did it in a few instances.
