That film sounds ******** to me, but my complaint is that they should have films like that that appeal to Porkys/Wayans Brothers/juvenile type humor reviewed in the paper by someone who actually likes that genre of gross out film. This kind of movie wasn't made to win Oscars, yet they have the same uppity types review it as review the serious melodramas. These types of gross out flicks shuold be judged by their own standards and since this one is an all black affair the least they could do is print a review by an African American film critic.

Why do they even bother having some middle class female white critic review this when it will still sell out lots of tickets to teens and African Americans? This movie wasn't made to appeal to middle class white women with college degrees.

If you want to see a truly watchable, funny movie that takes place on a plane, rent Airplane. Stay away from its sequel, though.

Isn't stupid at all, it's quite funny. Although, it's comedy a bunch of tight a** people wouldn't know anything about:D

Props to jamesanthony for the eye opener.

I actually saw this over the holiday weekend and it is what it is, a comedy made to generate some laughs. I suppose that there were parts that were offensive, but every film out now has stuff in it that is obnoxious. Brian Hooks was amusing as was the African co-pilot character and Richard T Jones who was basically raped by MoNique from the Parkers.

My mom saw the movie over the weekend and said that it should be on cable instead of the theaters

I totally agree!!

"Surely, you can't be serious"
"I am serious, and don't call me Shirley"

If you ever listen to any 80's station on the radio, in between the songs when they do the little speaking tidbits, you usually always hear that part in Airplane with the 3 pilots--"Over. what? That's a Roger, Roger. Huh? What our vector, Victor?" Something like that. I still laugh when I hear it. That proves what staying power this movie still has.

Oh, and casting Barbara Billingsley(June Cleaver) to speak jive to those 2 guys. A stroke of brilliance!!

JamesAnthony you're right. I don't know why white critics review black movies cause they can't relate to blacks so they don't need to be critiquing black movies. White critics should review their own movies & let black critics review their own movies. I might check out Soul Plane this weekend. I was thinkin about waitin for it to come on video. I saw a picture of Monique in new Jet magazine at the premiere of the movie. She had on some sexy outfit tryin to look sexy with her big ass LOL. Her parents & her brother were with her at the premiere. I wonder why that ugly black dude that does the 7up commercials was in Soul Plane movie LOL.

There aren't too many film critics who are not white. It goes beyond race though, DL Hughley was on a local radio show today and he took aim at Bill Cosby for saying his hmr and the humor in this mvie demeans blacks. A black film critic might savage this movie even worse than would a white one. Hughley feels that people like Cosby promote censorship.

The film in its own way makes commentary on society. In the first class section of the plane the people are eating steak and lobster. In coach they get colt 45 and the stewardess is passing out Popeye's chiken telling the passengers to not be gredy aout which peices they take.

Is that fat dude gay with the glasses that's a stewardess in the movie? I've seen him in Undercover Brother movie with Eddie Griffin.
