Forgive if this was asked already, but has anyone seen the British series that inspired this series? If so what did you think of it?

Hey, that is an interesting question; I'd like to know some people's thoughts and opinions of it too.

i rented some eps from my local video store its almost completely different from all in the family the biggest difference is the fact that the jokes about the english goverment dont seem to translate over here the other difference is that none and i mean none of the caherters pardon the spelling are likeable i mean wheras at least on all in the family even archie was somewhat loud and would yell at mike and vice versa the two deep down really cared about each other the people on till death do nothing but scream and are not the kind of people you really care about and the british counterpart to edith is a loudmouth shrew who you want to reach trough the tv and say shut up in short i still prefer the bunkers over the garrnets but i still would recomend at least renting one tape if you can to see if you like it better then i did

I haven't seen it. But I did see an early version of the pilot of AITF. There was a different Gloria and Mike. And it wasn't very funny. It was the same script as the first episode. Archie and Edith's anniversary. They eventually reshot it with Sally Struthers and Rob Reiner.

Either one of the cable channels or a Toronto TV station aired episodes in the early 1980s. I was living in Buffalo at the time and rememer watching one episode. The only things I remember about it is I didn't think it was funny and it wasn't like All in the Family at all. I never watched it again.

SNL Fan may have hit the nail on the head, maybe I didn't like it because I couldn't relate to the British political humor.
