I noticed something interesting about Aunt Martha and Uncle Billy. If I recall correctly, Aunt Martha was Beaver's godparent and Uncle Billy was Wally's godparent. Yet, in one episode, Uncle Billy tells Beaver that he's always been his favorite nephew. And Aunt Martha always seemed to favor Wally. Well, maybe that's not true, but I think she liked him because he looked more like a Bronson than a Cleaver.;)

are you saying Wally or Beaver looked more like a Bronson? Because I think Wally looks like a Bronson and Beaver looks like a Cleaver.

It's interesting how little things can pass you by, but June, Wally, and Aunt Martha do have a resemblence (the "Bronson look"); while Ward, Beaver, and Uncle Billy also have a resemblence.

But it really seems to me that both Aunt Martha and Uncle Billy gave Beaver more attention; but that's presumably because he was younger and still more 'bendable' toward returning that special attention... besides the show usually being focused more on Beaver, at least until the final 2 seasons.

I meant Wally looked more like a Bronson...I remember Aunt Martha commenting on that in at least one episode, but I can't remember which one. And in another episode, June comments about how Wally is looking more and more like her sister all the time and Ward says "I'll tell him to cut his hair".

and in the episode "Uncle Billy", Uncle Billy said that Wally looked like June's side of the family. In other episodes it was mentioned that Beaver received a silver dollar from Uncle Billy for looking like Ward.

What I don't get is, why when there is a child, do both sides of the family say that child looks like them? Is it because they want to think that or what? I look more like my mother's side, but my father and his side insist I'm a carbon copy of him.

I think it depends on how much a child looks like one side of the family. From what I'm getting from LITB is that Wally's appearance, maybe his coloring and other features, is obviously from the Bronson side of the family. If a child is more of a mixture, than people can pick out features that they recognize and say that they look more like both sides of the family. And it also has to do with perspective of course. I think since Wally looks more like a Bronson and Beaver looks more like a Cleaver, they have their bases covered so no aunt or uncle is going to get too jealous.;)

I only have 1 of my father's features. I'm so lucky, as my father's sort of homely.

For those who noticed the Cleaver/Bronson resemblances, take a close look at this picture. Once one of my avatars, it clearly shows the resemblances between Ward and Beaver. Same facial shape, eye shape, and all around appearance. Now look at Wally and June. June's facial structure is larger, but she has a lot of the same features as Wally. Notice the resemblances.
