Marla Gibbs went from the Jeffersons right into 227 in 1985. Two completely different characters, both hit shows that each ran long enough to do well in syndicated reruns. Are there any other cases like this where an actor left one long running hit show and went immediately into another with no break in between playing completely different characters?

Gavid MacLeod went straight from 7 years on Mary Tyler Moore to 9 years on The Love Boat

Scott Baio went from Happy Days to Charles In Charge. Charles is one of my all time favorite shows, but I've never once seen Happy Days. However, I know he was on it.

I have never wanted to see Happy Days. I've seen both Laverne and Shirley and Mork and Mindy and I hated both of them. Knowing that they were spin-offs of Happy Days, I had no interest what so ever in watching Happy Days.

Patrick Duffy was in Dallas from 1978-1991 and then went right into Step By Step from 1991-1998.

Gerald McRaney went from 1981-1988's Simon And Simon to 1989-1993's Major Dad (S&S counts because it had an abbreviated final season in the 1988-1989 season, only like 12 episodes, and it wrapped up in Dec 88... but it was still in that season)

William Frawley went from I Love Lucy (1951-57) to The Lucy-Desi Comedy Hour (1957-1960) to My Three Sons (1960-until he left in 1965).

Lucille Ball went from The Lucy Show (1962-68) to Here's Lucy (1968-74).

Carroll O'Connor went from playing Archie Bunker to playing Chief Gillespie (In The Heat Of The Night) Definitely opposite ends of the pole! He did both roles brilliantly! How I miss him! RIP Carroll! I love ya!:(

Yes it did and both were Aaron Spelling shows so it was a case of Spelling having a performer on hand that he was comfortable working with.

I had forgotten about Gavin McLeod, Scott Baio, Patrick Duffy and William Frawley.

I dunno if it's counted or not.

Peter Krause went from Cybill (1995-1998) to Sports Night (1998-2000) to HBO's Six Feet Under (2001-), technically less than a year passed between the end of SN and the beginning of SFU that in many ways you could say Six Feet premiered towards the end of the 2000-2001 season
