View Full Version : Downloadable MPEG, AVI, or MOV files?
swedeace 05-26-2004, 02:17 PM Anyone know of a website where I can download .mpg, .avi, or .mov episodes or clips of season one of "8 Simple Rules?" I know of Pavan's website, but even they're in .wmv which I cannot convert to a valid file to burn onto DVD. Anyone know? Thanks. ;)
TheBert 05-26-2004, 02:34 PM i have the both entire seasons on video cd + the abc special after john ritter's death :/
i dont know if this is illegal (i guess not, because everything's recorded from either abc or the canadian station ctv), but you can get a lot of episodes on emule (it takes 1 - 2 days/nights to download an entire episode).
all the bit-torrent links from the older episodes are death :/
if you or anyone is interested in getting episodes or season 1/2 boxes (i ONLY have them in mpg-videocd format), email me at
bert @ brockbert.de (w/o spaces of course, i'm afraid of email robots :o )
i could either offer a server where pple can download them (I have an adsl connection so the speed won't be faster than 15 - 20kb/s but I can offer the server every night for 6 - 10 hours or longer sometimes) or i'm also willing to send episodes via cd.
Edit: oh yeah, the program TMPEnc is able to convert wmv files to mpg files. just rename the wmv file to asf and it'll work!
katefandream04 05-27-2004, 08:15 PM Suprnova.com is where I get my torrents:D
swedeace 05-27-2004, 08:20 PM Thanks, KateFanDream04 and TheBert, for your responses! :)

Could you do this? That would be awesome!!! It will be no problem for me if you could only offer it between 6-10 hours per night for us to download. You live in Germany, correct? So you're in CET, and you're just 8 hours ahead of me, so I could be downloading them through a server at work on the fast connection. :)
Otherwise, what about a website where any 8SR fans have digitized these? I'm asking because at home I use a 56k connection and would take hours and hours and take up my phoneline space downloading. Plus, at work I have two connections (a T1/LAN and DSL), but it's a no-no and forbidden to uses p2p programs. Either of these ways, I'm screwed.... :(
Any other ideas?

sure, that would be no problem for me. it's correct that i live in germany, so depending in which timezone you live in america, it's between 6 and 8 hours time difference. as said before, i could offer the server for 6 - 8 hours every night. you also wouldnt need a p2p program for this. if you have, you could use an ftp client for downloading but i could also just make a http server and put the episodes there. i also have the abc special "remembering john ritter" which was originally aired one week after his death.

Okay, thanks!!! I'm 8 hours behind CET because I've been to Europe. ;) So your evening/night would be my daytime.
A hosted HTTP website or even downloading through FTP sounds awesome!! Thanks once again!! :D
TheBert 05-28-2004, 09:58 AM ok... if you have an ftp client i'd prefer to set up an 8 simple rules ftp server. maybe it's better if you just email me for more details now ;)

katefandream04 06-09-2004, 05:00 PM anyone know how to post a video clip here?
swedeace 06-09-2004, 07:24 PM KateFan: Do you have a video you want to upload from your computer? If so, you would just upload it the same way you do with images. When replying, click on the "Browse..." button and upload the video file. Not sure what the file size limit is, but just try it. ;)
Bert: Have you received my email about Thursdays? :)
TheBert 06-12-2004, 02:30 PM @swedeace: yes, i emailed back. thursdays are ok :)
@katefandream04: if this forum has a filesizelimit for uploads you need a webspace account (like tripod.com) where you can upload your file. then you can just post the link here
katefandream04 06-12-2004, 03:08 PM thanks!
