Finally, after posting and posting for over 2 years, I believe I found the sitcom. I used to watch this back in the early 90's on B.E.T when I was in the 2 and 3rd grade. Someone please tell me that this is the sitcom about a black family that has a barbershop attached to their house? Cause my search will finally be over, hopefully!

Yes, Desmond's is about an immigrant black family in the UK that runs a barber shop. I used to watch that when I was little too :). ...I think in the UK it was on Channel 4...anyone?

Hi from New Zealand.

Yes Desmond's was a Channel 4 situation comedy. One of Channel 4's most successful along with Black Books, The Comic Strip Presents..., Drop The Dead Donkey, Father Ted, Peter Kay's Phoenix Nights and Spaced.

Desmond's ran from 1989-1994 consisting of 71 episodes (70 x 30m, 1 x 60m) in six series'. In 1994, Norman Beaton who played Desmond Ambrose, sadly passed away, age 60.

Set in Peckham, south London (as was Only Fools & Horses), about West Indian immigrants and their British born off-springs.

There was also a spin off titled Porkpie (Channel 4, 1995-96) consisting of 12 episodes in two series'.
