Yes there was an animated series, produced from 1986-1988.

Yes, I loved it. There were two series I think. The popular one, that TJL mentioned, and the CBS one that aired on Saturday mornings in the early 90s.

Also, I think the U.K. has it's own animated Dennis -- with black hair!

I watched the one in the 1980s every day after school. It was a favorite. In the early 1990s the cartoon that aired used the voice of the kid who played Dennis in the live action movie with Walter Mathau. It didn't sound like the Dennis I knew. The voice for the 1980s cartoon was much better. Nothing against the kid from the movie, he just didn't have a "cartoon voice."

For a very brief time back in the early 70s there was a Dennis the Menace cartoon feature that was part of Curiosity Shop (?). They also featured other cartoons of popular comic strips such as B.C. for example.

Dairy Queen I seem to remember using a cartoon Dennis to sell its sundaes and shakes back in the 70s and early 80s. I do know they used the characters on its cups.
