Benny gets married to Randy and moves in with her new husband across town. Ernie moves in his own apartment, which so happens to be in the same apartment building as Benny and Randy. George and Angie finally get Carmen to come home. Angie and George start to have marital problems and decide to separate for a while, but "for a while" turned longer than that. George decides to move out of the house and bunk in with Ernie. Angie finds herself a new higher paying job. Carmen is now 17 years old and in the 11th grade, Max is 12 years old and in the 6th grade. Max starts to have feelings for his tutor, Tina (Paris Hilton). Max tells his friends he wants to mae out with Tina, who finds out and convinces him to settle for a kiss every once and a while. Carmen's got a new boyfriend, Josh Fredrickson. Josh and Carmen are perfect together. Angie comtemplates getting back together with George or just calling it quits after 19 years.

After being separated from George, Angie suddenly gets the "flu" and has to manage going to work still. Angie goes to the doctor and realizes she doesn't have the flu, she is just pregnant (2 months pregnant to be exact). Angie freaks out and realizes George is the only man she's been with for the past 19 years, so the child must be George's. Angie tells Carmen and Max she's pregnant and that she wants to get back together with George. Angie goes over to Ernie's apartment, to learn they've been evicted for the past week and livign with Benny and Randy. Angie tells George she's pregnant and wants him back in front of Benny, Ernie, and Randy. George moves out of Benny and Randy's apartment (but Ernie remains to live with them) and moves back in with Angie and the kids. Angie and George realize they are having twins, which just so happen to run in Angie's family, her dad is a twin) Seven months later, Angie goes into labor during Carmen's dance recital. Benny, Randy, and Max stay to wait until Carmen can leave to go to the hospital, as Ernie and George bring Angie to the hopsital. Just before Angie gives birth to the twins, Benny, Randy, Max, and Carmen arrive and join Ernie in the waiting room, until George walks out of the delivery room shouting "It's a Boy!", then 6 minutes later walks out shouting "It's a Girl!". They are so excited to see the babies. First, George takes Carmen and Max in to se their new brother and sister, then Benny, Randy, and Ernie come in. After being paged, George realizes there is a problem at work, and without being asked, Randy and Ernie offer to go take care of the problem. Angie, George, Benny, Max, and Carmen each get a chance to hold the twins. Angie and George decided on names for the twins : Carlos George Lopez and Maria Angelina Lopez. George and Angie get to take Carlos and Maria home. Benny regrets moving on the other side of town now that the twins are born.
