Also, Helen Kleeb, known for her role of Miss Mamie Baldwin on The Waltons, passed away December 28, 2003.

the main problem is that, with the passion of so many smash series... there's no real show to pick up the torch of Friends, Frasier and Sex. Raymond gets great ratings, but it's coming to an end too. Will & Grace could pick it up, but it's ending too!

For example, when Mash ended in 1983, there were shows like Cheers and Family Ties more than willing to carry it's torch, when Cheers ended, there was Seinfeld, when Seinfeld ended, there was Friends and Frasier... there's no clear "marquee sitcom" on the horizon for now.

It was sad for all those reasons, but also because there were a lot of really crappy shows on the schedules. And it does look like it's getting any better.

Oh, Larry Hovis (Hogan's Heroes, Laugh-In) died last Sept.

thats true but nobody then knew that Cheers and Family Ties would be such big hits. They didn't become popular until 1984.
