What is your favorite Led Zeppelin album? I only listed the original nine studio albums, including the 1982 collection of outtakes called Coda. I decided to leave out the various live albums such as 1976's two disc collection The Song Remains The Same, the BBC Sessions which was released in '97 and the three disc How The West Was Won from last year.

Picking a favorite Zeppelin album is like picking a favoirte Beatles album, near to impossible because they are all so good. The only Zeppelin album that I really do not like is 1979's In Through The Out Door. That album has always come across to me like Plant, Page, Bonham and Jones were simply going through the motions and their hearts really were not into it. That being said, this album does contain the excellent song "All My Love", a song that Robert Plant wrote for his son who had passed away two years earlier and features perhaps Plant's finest performance. I have to go with 1975's Physical Graffiti as my favorite Lez Zeppelin album. This two disc set is chalked full of great songs like "Custard Pie", "The Rover", "Trampled Under Foot" and "Kashmir".

Led Zeppelin III, though Led Zeppelin IV is a very close second.

you can tell practically everyone agrees mid-period is the best (IV through Physical Graffiti)

It sure does seem to be that way. However, I am surprised the first two albums haven't recieved any votes.
