misterblowhole 05-22-2004, 08:56 PM Is Two And A Half Men the only first-year sitcom to survive this season?
I'm trying to think of others, and all I can come up with is Arrested Development, which isn't exactly a sitcom in the traditional sense, but definetly counts.
Anything else survive?

There are black holes in the furthest reaches of the cosmos that will never suck as much as that show did.

Also All of Us on UPN. That's 5 not counting anything on WB. Has any year had a worse track record given the total number of new shows put up in proportion to the total # of shows? Not one of the sitcoms launched in the fall of 1973 survived, but Happy Days and Good Times which began in midseason did. Of the ones started in 1966 only That Girl, Family Affair and the Monkees survived. Fall 1967-68's only survivors were Flying Nun and Mothers-In-Law. Of course back then there were only 3 networks and they tended to keep the shows on for a whole season, thus fewer total series were made.

In the fall of 1999, only The Parkers survived.

Amazing. Talk about a freshman slaughter. What other shows from that year got murdered? I can only think of the Jaleel White sitcom Grownups.

other flop sitcoms from 1999 include Action (with Jay Mohr), The Mike O'Malley Show (which for his luck was mercykilled after only 2 episodes) and Time Of Your Life, which starred Jennifer Love Hewitt, and despite her popularity at the time, didn't make it to midseason
Malcolm In The Middle and Titus both premiered midseason and survived
