I heard on the episode where Lucy goes on Females are Fabulous, the episode where she has to tell Ricky she was married before, that the rent she and Ricky paid was $250. a month. I wonder what an apartment like they had would be now to rent.
Also do you notice in the early episodes that Ethel is more of the thinker of situations to get involved in.

I don't understand what you mean about Ethel, splain!
As far as the apartment rent goes, I would say that that apartment would be thousands today. New York City rent is insane nowadays.

Well in the episode of Be a Pal. Ethel gives Lucy ideas on how to to find ways to get Ricky to love her. Today Jealous of the Girl Singer Ethel instructs Lucy to be a dancer.
I haven't seen many ILL eps lately and didn't see this recent one to which you refer, but I do remember there is one ep, and perhaps more, when they say their rent is $125/month-- yeah, now I recall, it is in the ep where they are planning to spend the summer in Maine and sublease their apartment, and an agent says she can get them $300/month (with their furnishings).
$125 around 1953 would index to... $850 - $900? And housing has probably gone up more than other necessities. I wouldn't live in NY anyway, but the idea of paying probably $1100 or more per month for an apartment similar to the Ricardos...
I know what you mean about Ethel. I was her ideas that inspired Lucy's schemes in "Be a Pal" and "Lucy Thinks Ricky is Trying to Kill Her." Occasionally throughout the series she does pop up as the thinker-upper, such as when she asks Lucy to pose as her maid when Fred's old vaudeville partner is coming to visit, and when Ricky tells Lucy he can't take her with him to Europe and Ethel starts Lucy thinking he want to go without her so he can do some 'playing around.'

I know of apartments where I live that are $1,000, or more and aren't as good as the Richardos. In the Baby episodes they had 4 good size rooms. I do get a kick of their off the living room closet . Never much in it. Except people crammed in or Lucy Kleptomanic items for her the fair. Only time it looked a little better was the Anniversary episode where Lucy and Ricky drank champainge.

I am not sure but i am almost positive that it is 150.00 cause i think fred was fussing b'cause ricky was getting 2x as much as fred gets for rent
and 2x150=3000 I may be wrong but I think that is the amount :)
