View Full Version : Last Straw
Danisel331 05-21-2004, 05:14 PM Hi everyone!
I haven't been around much because I just haven't felt right lately. I apologize for that, but now I'm here to ask all of you to help Freddie. If you've been over to the TVShowsOnDVD site, then maybe you've seen the recent list of shows to be released. Now it has been announced that Happy Days, Andy Griffith, Laverne and Shirley, Mork and Mindy, and Hogan's Heros are all to be released in August. The Friends finale was released the Tuesday after it aired. Now I'm not knocking the shows, I know they all have their fans. But enough's enough. September marks 30 years Chico debuted and Chico won a TVLand Landmark award(which BTW is supposed to be the reason the Andy Griffith show is being released in season sets now) this year. If anytime were to be the right time to release this show, now is that time. Well, I asked the TVShowsOnDVD site what would be the BEST way to get Warner Brothers attention and they suggested to write to the Warner Brothers site. I did that and got a form letter saying they don't know anything about when show will be released, but they said they would make a note of what I asked for. Now it's a small chance, but it looks like it's up to us to get this show out there. Everyone PLEASE just send a message to them and maybe if they get enough of us sending, they will take the hint!
Here's the site (http://www2.warnerbros.com/web/main/help/customer_service.jsp)
Luckymama58 05-22-2004, 07:59 AM Dani,
I did write them a while ago, maybe as much as a year or better and got the same kind of a response. But you are correct, we need to keep at them. I think everyone should write and I just did again.
BTW when writing to these people, keep it polite (as I know we all are on here!) They respond better to that. If you aren't sure what to write, I have pasted what I wrote. PLEASE don't copy and paste it tho, they HATE form letters. Personal letters are MUCH better!
We would like to know when you are planning to release the season sets of our all time favorite show Chico and the Man. Since receiving the Landmark award on this years TVLand awards, we feel that it is time to get to see this show as it was meant to be seen, uncut and in DVD quality. Thanks for your attention to this matter.
Lets flood them with messages.... get all your friends to do the same!
I just sent warner bros my request and I was so nice i hope we get what we want....
Prince 05-22-2004, 03:14 PM I just wrote Warner Brothers too. Please, everyone write and let them know how bad we want this.
hue_mee 05-22-2004, 03:29 PM I agree Macca. I wrote them a polite letter and mention how much Freddie is still loved and remembered to this day. I hope all of our responses gives them a push to put Chico and the Man on DVD!
 The email i sent to warner bros was just returned to me subsystem delivery failure can anyone tell me what i did wrong?
I saved the letter so i can try and send it again later can anyone help me?
Danisel331 05-23-2004, 04:03 AM Thank you ladies for doing this. Personally, I just got tired of waiting around and felt something just had to be done. I'm really hoping that this will work. All year I've just had this feeling that something big was supposed to happen this year concerning Freddie and the award was nice, but not big enough. I've sent a second letter myself, so please, if we keep at them hopefully, they will see the demand. Sad to say but as long as they think they can make money, the better our chances are.
Ms Angie. All I can tell you is that you should send it through the site, not a personal email. I really think this should work. :)
Thanks Dani but i went to the site and the comment board i chose video and DvD section and typed in my request going from the link you posted and about a half an hour later it returned to me. Did i choose the wrong catagory?
HELP!!!
Luckymama58 05-23-2004, 02:35 PM I went through the site to send my comments and mine came back as undeliverable through my email.... I dunno what is up with that?????
well we need help Lucky but if everyone else keeps sending in we can join in when we get it figured out.
Maybe we should try sending our comments to each department they list one of them is bound to be deliverable???
What can i say, i'm desperate!
Danisel331 05-23-2004, 08:03 PM Well, I'm sorry. I can't imagine what's wrong because I've sent two and gotten the same kind of response to both. They say thanks for asking blah blah blah, we dont have that information blah blah blah.
Only thing I can tell you is that I picked Video/DVD and filled in the spaces with the little *. It's gone through both times for me. I hope you can work it out.
Luckymama58 05-23-2004, 08:06 PM Hummm  That's EXACTLY what I did! ?????
Prince 05-23-2004, 10:52 PM Following is the response I received.....I'm sure Dani got the same thing.
Hello!
Thank you for your e-mail regarding future Warner Bros. DVD releases. Unfortunately, Warner Bros. Online Customer Service does not have exact release dates, nor do we know when a certain DVD will be released in various countries or formats. Warner Bros. Online Customer Service also has no information as to why certain films or TV shows have not been released on DVD. Warner Bros. values your input and opinions. Your requests for specific movies, TV shows and features have been noted.
I'm going to keep bugging them despite this email.
Danisel331 05-24-2004, 03:50 AM Yep Ms Macca that's the same thing I got exactly. 2 times all ready.
Oh hey ladies, I just thought of something. I read that yahoo mail has been acting up lately. Maybe if you have another address you can put, that may help. I don't know if that will make a difference or not, but I hope it helps.
catcopy18 05-28-2004, 12:56 PM I sent my e-mail/request to them yesterday and as far as I know, it went through ok. I haven't gotten any kind of a response from them yet. How long does it usually take for them to respond?
I'm hoping that if they get lots of requests regarding CATM, they may think they should really look into it now!
FREDDIEFANFOREVER 06-03-2004, 11:04 AM Dear Everyone,
Thanks for the Warner Bros. update. I've haven't been on this site in so long but I need to find time to catch up!!
I just mailed Warner Bros. according to all your directions and my message actually went through too! I just filled out the * items and sent a request to put Chico on DVD's for the 30th Anniversary and begged them not to wait too long because we are all anxiously waiting for our show to come out on DVD's.
Thank you all for keeping me informed!
SUGARPIE
scott cokeley 06-07-2004, 01:49 AM I just sent my request and made some good points. It's painfuly obvious that now is the time. I was thinking also, as many of you are, that the 30th anniversary is right around the corner. Jack Albertson won an Emmy from this show and Freddie wpon a TV Land award. It's a classic show, so what's the hold up? (Sorry, just venting......)
as we are all venting here this is long overdue.
Unfortunately my requests and the one dani sent on my behalf have all been returned failed delivery so if anyone wouldn't mind if your requests go through, would you please send one for me???
Danisel331 06-29-2004, 04:06 AM Ok y'all.....we HAVE to do SOMETHING!
It has been announced that the Tony Orlando show will be released to DVD next year. This show debuted the same year as Chico and was not half as popular. On thet tvshowsondvd.com site, TOAD has 61 votes and Chico has 210. It looks like it is up to us, so send, send, send!! ;)
Cheryl Harrell 06-29-2004, 06:12 AM I hope they will put on dvd the episodes with Freddie in them... :)
Pitooey 06-29-2004, 08:03 AM I have this strange feeling that it will happen soon. Freddie will be getting his star on the Hollywood walk of Fame so I predict that by the end of this year Chico and the Man will emerge on DVD. Keep bugging them.......
Pitooey 06-29-2004, 08:08 AM I'm keeping my fingers crossed......... & toes of course.......
imaillusion 06-30-2004, 01:23 AM I put this (http://www.sitcomsonline.com/boards/showthread.php?threadid=112644) response that I got on this board and the TV Land board.
It is a shame that TV Land does not run episodes of Chico and the Man.There was a marathon of the show a couple of years ago on TV Land.
I do not know the reason why it is not aired.I do not know the reason why it is not on DVD.Every episode had a "moral" to the story.Besides the laughter, there were lessons learned from this show. When I think of Chico and the Man I am reminded of the comfort of my childhood. As I said,I watched the marathon.I curled up on my comfortable couch and let the every day stress of my job vanish.
There are not alot of things I do on my days off that remove me from my job. When I watched the marathon I did not once think of work,I was removed from it and was stress free.
I posted this (http://www.tvland.com/boards/viewthread.jhtml?bID=14&tID=54525&mID=239610&offset=0) responce on the TV Land board.
Danisel331 07-24-2004, 12:48 PM Hi guys!
I need for y'all to help me, please. I saw that TVLand is going to have two marathons in September to celebrate the 40th anniversaries of two shows. While I love these two shows, Bewitched and The Munsters, don't you think that the 30th anniversary of a show is just as important? So here's what I thought of. I'm going to try to start a message on the TVLand programming suggestions board, but I would really appreciate it if you could come by there and post your support as much as possible. If we want to be heard, looks like we have to make a big noise. Please help!
Here's the link: TVLand (http://www.tvland.com/boards/viewboard.jhtml?bID=5)
MariposaLKB 07-24-2004, 07:56 PM TVLand requires waaay tooo much personal info in order to register just to post a reply, IMHO. I don't give out my full real name if I can help it--only the first one IF I absolutely have to. And I am paranoid about giving any substantial clues to my location, such as zip code.
I am very sorry I can't do this myself, cuz I really would love to see this happen. If one of the rest of you would be willing to add your Freddie friend Mariposa's wishes to your posting on the TVLand website, I would greatly appreciate it! Thanx mucho!
hue_mee 09-16-2004, 06:49 PM I don't want to jump the gun here but I was emailing Luis Rivera and he said that Maria couldn't get over how time passed (regarding the 30th anniversary) and the Freddie's show and memory is still alive. She is doing well and heard that they are going to be selling the show episodes on DVD. I ( me speaking) do not know when they will be out. Any way Luis said that Maria will be buying all the episodes because the copies on VHS have deteriated. So everyone keep your fingers crossed and look out for any sign of the shows being released on DVD!!!

victorianscribe 09-16-2004, 10:15 PM Wow. First the GoodLife news, and now this ... I don't want to jump the gun either, but I consider Luis Rivera a good source of info. I'm hoping the DVD release is indeed in the works. (If they could put Lassie on DVD, why not Chico?)
It's so poignant, though ... I mean, the thought of Maria's VHS copies deteriorating over time. That's incredibly sad.
I think I'll turn in for the night and pray for Freddie.
Cheryl Harrell 09-17-2004, 03:40 AM That is sad his moms videos have deteriorated. I sure hope it gets released on dvd. My hubby Mike thinks it will. :)
