All of Lamont Friends were Hip but he wasn't. Julio was a cool dude we all know Rollo was cool,and even ACHU was Cool-lol. Why did the Lamont character have to be so SQUARE and he was in his 30's? Very Odd

I guess someone had to play the straight man and it wasn't going to be Fred Sanford.

Lamont was a straight arrow but not a nerd. He was hipper than Fred. And if he could keep up with Rollo he definately wasn't a nerd.

Good way of putting it. I agree. He was definitely not a nerd. Back in those times he was not "nerd" material as we were just being introduced what the term "nerd" meant. He was just one of those who was rather laid-back, boring and as Mike said, uptight.
