I was a little confused. Diane was introduced in the very beginning of the very first episode and spend time with Louise and was also seen at the end of the episode. Florence on the other hand was only seen briefly at the end of the episode and said-"how come we overcame and nobody told me?" And right after that episode, Diane VANISHED from the Jeffersons and Florence was brought back? I still don't understand that.

That line got a big laugh! That's why they brought Florence back! My thinking is that the producers felt they could get more of the same from Florence which they did. I don't remember Diane. Who was she?

Diane was the woman Louise was drinking Coffee with in the first episode in the kitchen. Diane was a maid and thought Louise was a maid too,

I remember Diane was the Willises' maid and she was supposed to work for the Jeffersons too. After the first episode I don't recall any reference to the Willises having any type of housekeeper.

I think there is a later episode where the maids in the building go on strike but I don't recall if any of them were identified as being the Willises' employee. I certainly can't imagine Helen Willis doing huosework.

Having maids left Helen and Weezie with an awful lot of time on their hands. In one of the very first episodes Louise feels useless. She had nothing to do really except sit around the apartment and put on weight. If this show were made now she and Helen would probably have their own careers.
